## Senior Software Engineer, Metadata Platform ### About Box Box (NYSE: BOX) is the leader in Intelligent Content Management. It’s used to organize, discover, annotate, secure, and retain content—and adoption continues to grow as more Box products rely on it and customers build custom applications with it. ### What you’ll do - Lead design and implementation efforts for new platform components, from the ground up. - Design and implement scalable services focused on reliability, observability, operability, and efficiency. - Work with technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, BigTable, and Istio. - Help set the platform vision and define feature roadmaps. - Mentor other engineers and contribute to team growth. - Strengthen engineering processes, principles, and culture through learning, continuous improvement, and blameless retrospection. ### Who you are **AI-first mindset:** You bring a growth mindset and look for ways to leverage AI to make faster, smarter decisions and increase your impact. **Required skills:** - 4+ years of professional software development experience - Extensive experience deploying and operating microservices in a cloud environment - Proven track record building services and/or tooling in one or more languages (e.g., Java, Go, Scala, Python) - Experience with message queues and/or streaming data systems (e.g., Kafka/PubSub) **Preferred skills:** - Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure - Experience deploying and operating microservices on Kubernetes ### Work location / culture Boxers are expected to work from their assigned office **at least 3 days per week**. ### Pay transparency (Redwood City) **$198,500 — $240,000 USD** (base salary; OTE if commissionable), plus equity and benefits. ### Equal opportunity Box is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity.
