About this role
## Role Summary We’re looking for a **Senior Software Engineer** to join a high-impact team building the systems that power **Temporal Cloud’s** customer experience at scale. Your team owns critical product surface area including: - **Namespaces**: https://docs.temporal.io/cloud/namespaces - **Audit Logs**: https://docs.temporal.io/cloud/audit-logs - **Export**: https://docs.temporal.io/cloud/export In this role, you’ll work on a new initiative, set technical direction, and build systems that shape how customers **provision, operate, and extract value** from Temporal Cloud. --- ## What You’ll Do - **Lead the design of business-critical systems**: Own end-to-end technical design and delivery for services powering namespace scalability, reliability, and customer data products. - **Bridge instrumentation and product value**: Partner with analytics and product engineers to ensure collected data drives meaningful customer insights; translate business questions into durable event schemas. - **Architect data pipelines for scale and correctness**: Define and evolve pipeline architecture for high-throughput operational data; make tradeoffs across freshness, query cost, tenant isolation, and fault tolerance. - **Drive data quality as a first-class concern**: Establish schema contracts, anomaly detection, and alerting to prevent silent failures and incorrect data from reaching customers. - **Raise the engineering bar**: Set quality standards via code/design reviews; introduce patterns and tooling to improve maintainability, observability, and incident response. - **Mentor and multiply impact**: Grow engineers, unblock execution, and foster ownership, learning, and pragmatic excellence. - **Improve developer and customer experience**: Streamline customer flows through automation, better tooling, and platform improvements that reduce friction. --- ## Technology Stack - **Primary Language**: Go - **Data Storage**: PostgreSQL, Redshift, S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage - **Data Warehouse**: Snowflake, Databricks, ClickHouse, BigQuery - **Data Processing**: Kinesis, Firehose - **Infrastructure**: Kubernetes - **Core Framework**: Temporal --- ## What You’ll Bring - Deep experience designing and delivering **production-grade backend systems** in cloud environments, with ownership of architecture and operational outcomes (including failure modes). - Strong proficiency in at least one systems/backend language (Go preferred), comfortable navigating large codebases and driving technical decisions. - Hands-on experience building and operating **distributed systems** (concurrency, reliability, scaling, consistency, failure handling). - Solid experience with **data pipelines and storage systems** (Postgres, Redshift, Kafka/Kinesis, S3-compatible storage, ClickHouse) and a track record of correctness and traceability at scale. - Production operations experience: **observability, incident response, performance tuning, on-call readiness, continuous delivery**. - Ability to collaborate across functions—turn ambiguous requirements into clear, executable technical plans. - Strong written and verbal communication (crisp design docs, alignment on tradeoffs, clear explanations). - A builder’s mindset: simplify complex workflows, improve tooling, and leave systems better than you found them. --- ## What You Can Expect - High-impact ownership over systems tied to **revenue, customer lifecycle, and platform scalability**. - Collaborative engineering cu
