Senior Manufacturing Applications Engineer, Model Based Manufacturing
Anduril Industries · Santa Ana, California, United States
About this role
**Senior Manufacturing Applications Engineer, Model Based Manufacturing** **About Anduril** Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology—bringing modern expertise, technology, and business models to defense. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by **Lattice OS**, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center. **About the Team (Maritime Digital Production / MDP)** Maritime Digital Production (MDP) is the software and digital systems function within Anduril’s Heavy Metal division. MDP builds the **software-defined shipyard**—including the data infrastructure, **ArsenalOS** (manufacturing execution system), scheduling engine, and AI systems that reduce manual toil across the shop floor and business operations. MDP operates at the boundary between **Operational Technology (OT)** and **Information Technology (IT)**, incubating solutions close to the production line, validating with real operators building real hardware, and scaling across multiple sites. **About the Job** This role owns **how parts get made from the model**—there’s no drawing in this flow. You’ll define the standard work connecting engineering design data to machine tools on the floor, including **CAM practice**, **staged model processes**, and **traceability** from process requirements to as-run results. --- ## What You’ll Do - Write **standard work** and **process procedures** for machining and fabrication, traceable to characteristics in the technical data package. - Own the **CAM practice**: - How model geometry and **PMI** drive toolpath decisions. - How **NC programs** reach machine tools without manual file transfers. - Define the **staged model standard** (e.g., **Stage**, **M-State**, **Operation** objects describing how a part moves through manufacturing). - Set **manufacturing readiness criteria** for program gate milestones and get them accepted by program leadership. - Work directly with software engineers building the **data pipeline** so handoffs between design, manufacturing, and inspection carry what the next step actually uses. - Bring **physics-based machining simulation** into production CAM workflows to validate programs before cutting metal. --- ## Required Qualifications - **8+ years** in precision manufacturing process engineering; you’ve written standard work and process procedures yourself. - Hands-on **CAM programming** in **NX CAM**, **Mastercam**, or equivalent; working understanding of how model geometry and PMI drive toolpath decisions. - Working knowledge of **model-based definition** practice, including **staged models**, **STEP AP242**, and **QIF**, and how model data carries into manufacturing and inspection. - Eligible to obtain and maintain a **U.S. Secret security clearance**. --- ## Preferred Qualifications - Experience managing **NC program delivery** to machine tools and capturing **as-run data**. - Physics-based machining simulation experience in **Vericut**, **AdvantEdge**, **CutPro**, or equivalent. - Experience in a **regulated manufacturing** environment with formal traceability requirements. --- ## Compensation **US Salary Range:** **$147,000 – $196,000 USD** (base salary estimate; equity and benefits may be included depending on offer). --- ## Benefits Anduril offers a comprehensive, competitive benefits package (available at little to no cost to employees)
