🎵 **About the team** Music Expression builds the tools artists use to show who they are on Spotify and connect with fans—everything from looping Canvas visuals and music videos to vertical clips and release countdowns. Squads own parts of the artist-to-fan journey, spanning video pipelines and serving infrastructure through mobile and web clients, plus rights systems. **What you ship changes** how artists show up on Spotify and how fans experience their music. --- 🧩 **What you’ll do** - Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services (**Java**) - Help create and evolve APIs and services that connect user experiences with internal scalable infrastructure - Improve system architecture, performance, and developer experience - Develop and enhance user-facing layers and frontend SDKs (**React / TypeScript**) - Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and data specialists across multiple teams - Contribute to technical discussions and help shape platform decisions --- 👤 **Who you are** - Experienced in designing and developing backend applications in **Java** - Solid understanding of **React** and **TypeScript** - Passionate about end-to-end experiences and software architecture across backend, frontend, and APIs - Growth mindset; curious and willing to experiment - Experience with infrastructure-related technologies is a plus - Cares about agile development and continuous learning - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; communicates ideas clearly - Experience mentoring and supporting collaborative teams --- 📍 **Where you’ll be** - Flexible work location - For this role, you can be within the **ET time zone** as long as there is a work location --- 💰 **Compensation & benefits (US)** - Base range: **$132,948 – $189,927** plus equity (level determined during the interview process) - Benefits include: - Health insurance - Six month paid parental leave - 401(k) - Monthly meal allowance - 23 paid days off - 13 paid flexible holidays --- 🌍 **Equal opportunity** Spotify is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes candidates from all backgrounds.
