Prism is SoFi’s internal AI platform for knowledge work—connecting employees with AI models, business context, and tools to solve important problems more effectively. Prism also creates a continuous learning loop by capturing what works (and what doesn’t) so workflows improve over time. As the **Engineering Manager (M3) for Prism**, you’ll build and scale this critical internal tool, manage a team of software engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to define and execute the AI-platform roadmap. You’ll solve complex, function-specific problems and guide your team through rapid iteration in a highly ambiguous, greenfield environment. **What you’ll do** - **Build and scale Prism:** Lead the engineering team developing SoFi’s internal AI productivity platform. - **Manage and develop talent:** Manage incoming IC3 engineers with coaching, performance management, and career development. Partner with talent acquisition to hire and onboard advanced engineers (IC4/IC5). - **Execute the technical roadmap:** Define and deliver on the internal AI-platform roadmap, adapting to shifting priorities while meeting short-term operational targets. - **Build foundational AI infrastructure:** Oversee tools that help SoFi engineers work more productively (e.g., custom harness wrappers, auto-routing capabilities, and programmatic evaluations). - **Partner with stakeholders:** Work with internal developer customers and cross-functional engineering teams to distill requirements, gain buy-in, and drive platform adoption. **What you’ll need** - **Education & experience:** Bachelor’s + 4+ years OR Master’s + 3+ years in software engineering, computer science, or related field. - Proven experience with **AI-powered developer tooling** and related technical architectures. - Solid **people-management** experience in a fast-moving, high-velocity engineering environment. - Exceptional experience building platforms for, or managing, **internal developer customers**. - Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, drive rapid iteration, and execute **greenfield** engineering projects. **Nice to have** - Experience in **fintech** or other highly regulated industries. - Deep understanding of **LLM integration**, **RAG (context retrieval architectures)**, and **AI evaluation frameworks**. **Compensation & Benefits** The base pay range is listed below in the original posting.
