## Clarity Innovations — Edge Kit Tech Lead ### Location On-site Herndon / Hybrid / Remote (with travel to edge locations) ### Overview Lead a team of Platform Engineers to drive technical strategy and hands-on execution for IT systems supporting mission-critical edge computing environments. You’ll cover systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, hardware setup/installation/configuration, and secure network integration—along with systems lifecycle management, cybersecurity, performance tuning, and cross-functional collaboration. ### What You’ll Do - Provide code/design reviews, sprint prioritization, unblocking engineers, and mentoring - Build and maintain infrastructure powering edge computing environments - Deploy, automate, and scale distributed infrastructure at remote edge locations - Collaborate with software, operations, and security teams to deliver resilient, low-latency platforms - Lead platform engineering efforts for prototyping infrastructure designs for next-generation cyber network operations - Translate customer and business needs into systems solutions ### Responsibilities - Automate edge provisioning and configuration (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, custom deployment pipelines) - Develop scripts and automation tools for system management and deployment - Implement monitoring and observability for distributed edge clusters - Monitor performance/capacity; analyze logs and trends to proactively resolve issues - Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation - Optimize workloads for edge deployment (e.g., containerized apps, AI/ML inference) - Build CI/CD pipelines for remote software updates and over-the-air deployments - Ensure resilience and redundancy (failover + disaster recovery at edge sites) - Optimize resource usage for power, cooling, and bandwidth constraints - Support secure remote management and compliance for distributed systems - Manage security, access controls, and user permissions across platforms - Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansions - Lead design/deployment/management of edge infrastructure (compute, storage, networking) - Maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and lifecycle changes - Install, configure, and upgrade OS, enterprise applications, and middleware ### Qualifications **Required** - Ability to obtain and maintain a **TS/SCI Security Clearance** (US citizenship required) - Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field - 3+ years hands-on experience deploying/managing on-prem or edge computing with distributed nodes - Strong systems administration and networking fundamentals across Linux/Windows and/or virtualized platforms - Strong containerization/orchestration background (Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, OpenShift) - Knowledge of secure routing/networking for distributed systems (VPNs, SD-WAN, firewalls) - Proficiency with automation and infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Terraform, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) - Strong problem-solving for hardware/software/network issues - Familiarity with CI/CD workflows for distributed deployments - Comfortable working onsite in Herndon **3–4 days/week** - Willingness/eligibility to travel OCONUS **up to 10–20% annually** - Willingness/eligibility to travel CONUS **5% annually** **Preferred** - Experience with edge-specific hardware (industrial PCs, IoT gateways, ruggedized servers) - Knowledge of resource-constrained environments (limited bandwidth/power/intermittent connectivity) - Security ex
