About this role

## Anduril Industries — Senior Software Engineer (Sentry Software, Ground Based Air Defense) ### About Anduril Anduril is a defense technology company on a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. Anduril’s systems are powered by **Lattice OS**, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center. ### About the Team The **Sentry Tower Software** team develops robotic systems for **force protection**—monitoring the perimeter of secure areas (land or sea) for approaching people, vehicles, and vessels. The team uses **sensor fusion and autonomy** to render activity into Lattice’s common operating picture. ### About the Job Not every Sentry Tower does the same job. This role focuses on **ground-based air defense variants**—where the tower’s mission is **detecting and tracking aircraft**, and where the **sensor payload, radar integration, and configuration** differ from perimeter security variants. You’ll work in the team’s **declarative NixOS platform**, owning your variants’ slice of the system, including: - product configuration - radar and camera payload integration - networking - manufacturing test hooks - the software update path This is a role with **unusual breadth** across integration, configuration, and support—rather than a deep focus on a single specialty. **Travel:** ~10% (mostly local to test sites and the manufacturing floor). --- ## What You’ll Do - Own the **software configuration** for the Air Defense tower variants: product definitions, payload/sensor configuration, networking, and image builds in the declarative platform. - Integrate and support the variants’ **sensor payloads**, especially **radar** and **infrared camera services**, including configuration/behavior differences. - Develop features driven by Air Defense program requirements—from needs through design, implementation, and delivery into a shipping product. - Migrate variants’ **legacy configuration** onto the modern platform base, replacing one-offs with common, composable modules. - Own the variants’ **software update and deployment path**, plus **manufacturing test configuration**. - Support the product in the field and on the line: triage issues, reproduce/root-cause, fix what’s yours, and drive what isn’t with the owning team. - Partner with Air Defense program engineers and stakeholders to keep requirements, schedule, and technical reality aligned. --- ## Required Qualifications - **2+ years** of professional software engineering building and shipping real systems. - Proficiency in **Rust or C++**, with the ability to work across an existing codebase you didn’t write. - Solid **Linux systems fundamentals**: command line, systemd, networking basics, and log-driven debugging. - Practical experience integrating software with **hardware** (sensors, embedded devices, instrumentation), and comfort working on a bench with real equipment. - Demonstrated ability to own a piece of a larger system end to end (configuration, deployment, testing, support). - Clear written communication (interface between program requirements and implementation). - **US person status required**, with eligibility to obtain and maintain a **US security clearance**. --- ## Nice to Have - Experience with **radar, RF systems, or air surveillance/tracking**. - Experience with **camera/imaging pipelines**, especially **infrared**. - Experience with **declarative configurati
