## Staff Backend Graph Engineer ### Why Socure? Socure’s Identity Graph links billions of signals (names, addresses, devices, emails, phones) into one picture of identity—at millisecond speed. As a **Staff Engineer** on this team, you’ll set the technical direction for the platform behind that decision. You’ll own hard problems end to end and collaborate across Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Security. ### What You Will Do - **Shape the graph:** Define schemas, relationships, and ontology for consistent, extensible identity data. - **Own entity resolution at scale:** Decide how records, people, devices, and addresses connect—and how confident we are—across messy, sparse, and adversarial data. - **Build for speed and volume:** Design batch + real-time pipelines, low-latency APIs, and serving systems under heavy load. - **Power fraud intelligence:** Ship production systems behind ML features, model inference, and graph analytics. - **Move the numbers:** Improve performance, reliability, and cost with measurable outcomes. - **Set the direction:** Lead architecture decisions, document tradeoffs, and drive initiatives from design through production rollout. - **Raise the bar:** Mentor engineers and set standards for design reviews, testing, CI/CD, and operations. - **Protect identity data:** Build privacy, security, and PII protection into every system from day one. **Toolkit:** Java, Scala, or Python; Spark, Kafka, Flink, Airflow, AWS (including EMR); graph tech like Neo4j and Amazon Neptune. ### What You Will Bring - Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field - **7+ years** building and running distributed systems in the cloud, with at least **2 years at Staff/Senior Staff scope** (or equivalent) - Production scale impact you can quantify (latency, reliability, cost) - Deep **Spark/Kafka/Flink** experience in both batch and streaming (including production debugging) - Low-latency serving experience (APIs where milliseconds matter) - Graph and/or entity-resolution experience (identity graph, record matching across noisy sources, fraud/verification is a plus) - Cloud + operations fluency (AWS, Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, observability) - ML data pipeline experience (Databricks, SageMaker, etc.) and orchestration (Airflow or equivalent) - Technical leadership: led ambiguous cross-team work, mentored engineers, influenced direction via design docs ### What This Job Is Not - Not for someone who hasn’t owned a system end to end in production (including on-call) - Not feature work on platforms designed by others - Not a defined backlog— you’ll frame ambiguous problems yourself - Not a place to treat data privacy as a compliance checkbox ### Equal Opportunity Socure is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in all forms.
