## NetBox Delivery — Staff Software Engineer & Tech Lead NetBox Labs is seeking a **Staff Software Engineer** and **Tech Lead** for **NetBox Delivery**, a new team within our Applications group. NetBox is delivered in multiple ways: - **NetBox OSS** (open source community) - **NetBox Cloud** (SaaS) - **NetBox Enterprise** (self-managed) **NetBox Delivery** owns everything between a **NetBox Core release** and a **healthy, running instance** on Cloud and Enterprise. You’ll work closely with **NetBox Core** (which builds NetBox and its core plugins), shipping the software, monitoring it in production, and fixing issues at the source. As **Tech Lead**, you’ll set the technical direction for NetBox Delivery and write much of the code. You’ll be one of the first engineers on the team and help shape how it operates. --- ## What you’ll do - **Design and build** software that installs, upgrades, and runs NetBox (e.g., **Kubernetes operators**, controllers, internal APIs, release tooling) - **Collaborate with NetBox Core** to make NetBox and core plugins faster and more reliable in production (from app startup to **Postgres query performance**) - **Build observability** into the systems you own, and set team standards for **testing**, **documentation**, and **SLOs** - Own the **technical direction and architecture** for how NetBox is built, released, and run on Cloud and Enterprise - **Lead and mentor** engineers (including SRE) through design and code review - Work with NetBox Core and Cloud/Enterprise/Foundations teams to define **release contracts** and drive cross-team changes via **RFCs** - Serve as a **technical escalation point** during incidents and ensure postmortem actions are completed --- ## Requirements - **7+ years** of software development experience, including technical ownership of a production system or platform area - Strong **Python** skills; experience with production **SaaS** applications (**Django** and **Postgres** preferred) - Experience building software on **Kubernetes** (operators, controllers, deployment tooling), including reconciliation loops, custom resources, and the Kubernetes API - Experience building **observability** (error reporting, distributed tracing, metrics, structured logging) using tools such as **OpenTelemetry** and **Sentry** - Hands-on experience with delivery stack tools: **AWS**, **Kubernetes**, **Helm**, **GitHub Actions**, **ArgoCD or FluxCD**, **Terraform**, **Prometheus/Grafana** - Ability to lead engineering work **without formal manager authority**, including mentoring - Hands-on experience building inside an **AI-augmented development harness**, including **Claude Code** and workflows that make agentic tooling reliable - Track record of making technical decisions under ambiguity and driving work across teams (from writing RFCs to completing cross-team migrations) --- ## Nice to have - **Rust** or **Go** experience - Production experience with **Django/Postgres at scale** (schema design, migration risk, query performance) - Familiarity with the **NetBox ecosystem** or network automation - Experience in a **B2B startup** or high-growth organization - Open source contributions or project involvement - Experience with **self-managed/on-premises delivery** - Container build skills (base image design, Python dependency management) - Supply chain security experience (vulnerability scanning, image signing, SOC 2 controls for build pipelines) --- ## About NetBox Labs NetBox Labs helps c
