## About the Role: .NET Software Developer (Volunteer) **Location:** Remote (US-based volunteers only) **Time Commitment:** 10+ hours/week during core team hours **M–F, 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (your time zone)** **Overview** WeVote (working in close collaboration with Vote USA) is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup building technology to help voters have a positive, informed voting experience—especially on Election Day. This is a **volunteer** opportunity to support upcoming elections by contributing to a .NET-based platform used by millions of voters. --- ## What You’ll Do - Implement new enhancements - Fix occasional bugs - Add, update, and maintain **shape files** used to generate customized ballots based on a voter’s postal address - Respond to AWS server maintenance requirements (e.g., system software sunsets such as MySQL version updates) - Coordinate with WeVote engineers to integrate Vote USA data into the WeVote platform - Participate in weekly Zoom meetings --- ## Tech / Platform Context - Vote USA is built with **.NET** and includes: - A **public site** and a **gated admin site** (separate codebases) - A shared **C# library** - Development: - **Visual Studio** on an **AWS workstation** - Development sites hosted on a local **IIS** instance - Hosting: - Live public/admin hosted on **AWS EC2** - Public site uses **load-balanced instances** (scales during high-demand periods) - **Staging** server for pre-release review - Deployment: - New versions published via **.msi** files - Database: - **AWS RDS MySQL** (prod + test instances) --- ## Who You Are (Must-Haves) - You want to work with an established, successful team - You’re committed to strengthening American democracy - You strive for personal excellence and want meaningful impact - You’re willing to work with and support other volunteers --- ## How to Apply Please apply **directly** via the volunteering portal/ATS: https://wevote.applytojob.com/apply Include: - Your resume - A brief note/cover letter explaining why you’re interested in WeVote and the mission **Important:** Do **not** apply via other job portals/aggregators. --- ## Notes - This role is **100% unpaid** and volunteer-based. - We can only consider volunteers/interns who are **currently residing in the US**.
