## Senior Software Engineer, Identity & Regulatory Platform ### About Paxos Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient, and risky. For over a decade, Paxos has built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades, and settles assets for leading financial institutions (e.g., PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard, Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab). ### About the Team The Identity & Regulatory Platform team builds the trust layer behind every Paxos product. Before a financial institution or its end users can move a single asset on Paxos, they come through this team’s work across: - Identity verification - KYC/KYB - Sanctions and risk screening - Onboarding and activation in the Paxos Dashboard and Identity APIs The team also builds AI-enabled tools that Compliance uses to review applications and manage risk at scale—turning complex regulatory requirements into fast, automated product flows. ### About the Role As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll build the AI-enabled trust layer that helps the world’s largest financial institutions adopt blockchain safely. You’ll own the customer journey from first contact through onboarding to activation, including: - Designing systems for verification and onboarding - Using AI to automate compliance review - Measuring and improving every step of the onboarding funnel You’ll work closely with Product, Compliance, and identity vendors, shaping both how quickly customers go live and how well Paxos meets regulatory obligations. ### What You’ll Do - Own the customer journey from lead → onboarding → activation across the Paxos Dashboard and Identity APIs - Instrument the onboarding funnel, identify drop-off/friction, and run experiments to reduce time-to-activation - Design, build, and operate backend services for KYC/KYB, identity verification, screening, and identity lifecycle - Use AI to automate compliance work (document review, case triage, risk assessment) and reduce manual ops - Own integrations with third-party identity and screening vendors, including async workflows and webhooks - Build data-privacy capabilities (e.g., GDPR erasure, PII handling) into the platform from the start - Write design docs, lead technical decisions, mentor teammates, and participate in on-call ### About You - 5+ years building production backend systems, with 1+ year at senior level - Strong in Go, Java, or Python (Go strongly preferred) - Experience designing APIs and data models for sensitive/regulated data - Outcome-oriented mindset (conversion, activation, time-to-value) - Comfortable translating ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans **Bonus:** - Identity, KYC/AML, or onboarding systems - Growth engineering / experimentation - Building LLM features into production - Persona (or similar vendors) - Using AI tools daily to work faster and better ### Important Notice for Paxos Applicants (Fraud Prevention) Fraudulent accounts sometimes pose as Paxos recruiters on LinkedIn and other platforms, and fake websites may impersonate Paxos’ careers site.
