## AI Phone — Head of Android / AOSP ### About We’re reimagining the phone. AI phones need to be proactive, intuitive, intelligent, and low cost—so intelligence can reach the rest of the world. While billions use everyday apps (email, messaging, notes, tasks, calendars), most aren’t AI-native. Our mission is to build proactive applications and devices that bring intelligence into daily conversations, coordination, and workflows—with minimal prompting. **Focus:** Android OS, custom ROM, system architecture, and hardware integration. ### Responsibilities - Own the overall **Android platform architecture** and **AOSP-based ROM** development - Define how **AI capabilities** should be integrated at the **OS level** - Design **system services** and **privileged APIs** for AI agents to interact with the OS and applications - Define **system-level permission** and **security architecture** - Evaluate Android platform limitations and identify what needs to be modified or extended - Work with **hardware vendors / ODMs** on device integration - Lead **Android platform engineering** and establish technical standards - Evaluate technical feasibility and trade-offs for the first phone ### Requirements - Strong experience with **Android Open Source Project (AOSP)** - Deep understanding of **Android Framework**, **System Services**, and **Android internals** - Experience with **Binder IPC**, **Android permissions**, **SELinux**, and **system processes** - Strong **Java/Kotlin** and **C++** knowledge - Experience building or modifying **Android ROMs** - Experience shipping **platform-level** features (not just Android apps) - Strong **system architecture** and **technical leadership** experience ### Nice to Have - Experience from **Google Android / Pixel**, **Samsung**, **Xiaomi**, **OPPO**, or similar Android platform teams - Experience with **custom ROM** development - Experience with **Android BSP**, **HAL**, and **device bring-up** - Experience with **background execution** and **power optimization** - Experience integrating **AI/ML** capabilities at the **OS level**
