About this role
**Overview** LMI is seeking an experienced **Senior Platform Engineer** to lead the design and integration of **hybrid cloud and on-premises computing platforms** supporting **federal customers and classified environments**. This role focuses on **on-premises cloud infrastructure** for **compute, storage, and application hosting**, including **secure remote connectivity** through external cloud services as permitted by customer security/authorization and **cross-domain solutions (CDS)**. **Responsibilities** - Design and integrate **on-prem cloud infrastructure/platform** for **compute, storage, and systems/apps** - Enable **remote connectivity** via external cloud services for approved use cases - Serve as a **senior technical authority** for computing platform design and integration - Evaluate platform technologies and develop **secure, scalable infrastructure solutions** - Coordinate with architects, systems engineers, cybersecurity, networking, and other SMEs to deliver comprehensive solutions - Evaluate and recommend **accredited cross-domain solutions (CDS)** for information exchange across classified environments - Translate customer requirements into practical platform designs and present recommendations to program leadership and stakeholders - Guide platform implementation and validation; support technical planning and identify engineering resource needs - Incorporate security configurations and controls appropriate for **classified computing environments** - Develop architectural designs/diagrams, implementation plans, and engineering recommendations - Support integration testing, configuration validation, documentation, and transition to/from continuity of operations **Primary Duties** - **Platform Requirements Discovery & Analysis:** assess existing infrastructure, availability/capacity, remote access, constraints, dependencies, security requirements, and risks - **Enterprise Platform Architecture & Solution:** design secure hybrid/on-prem architectures (compute, storage, virtualization, containers, automation) - **Cross-Domain Solutions Evaluation & Integration:** evaluate CDS options and coordinate integration within authorization requirements - **Technical Solution Development & Customer Engagement:** feasibility assessments, solution alternatives, and technical briefings - **Platform Security, Validation & Documentation:** apply security controls (e.g., NIST 800-53 / RMF), guide validation, and create repeatable deployment procedures **Location & Travel** - **Washington, DC metro area** - Travel: approximately **25–50%** to support multiple program locations **Qualifications** - **Bachelor’s degree** in CS/IT/Engineering or related field + **10+ years** relevant experience (or equivalent) - Experience designing enterprise platforms across **hybrid cloud, on-premises, and classified computing environments** for DoD/IC or other federal customers - Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge (e.g., **AWS GovCloud and/or Azure Government**) - Enterprise infrastructure experience: **virtualization, containerization, networking, storage**, secure VPNs, and systems integration - Understanding of **accredited cross-domain solutions (CDS)** (evaluation, selection, integration, security) - Working knowledge of federal security requirements, configuration controls, and accreditation frameworks (**NIST SP 800-53**, **RMF**) - Ability to develop architectures, recommendations, and engineering documentation; communicate effectively wit
