About this role

## Staff DX Engineer (Remote - US) At Render, we’re building a modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications—so teams can ship fast, scale reliably, and focus on product instead of infrastructure. ### About the Role DX Engineering shows developers what building on Render is actually like. You’ll own technical content and code—from the first idea through a working sample app, docs, and video. You’ll also help test major releases end-to-end (like a customer would) and feed findings back to Product and Engineering. This is a remote role within the US, with the option to work from our headquarters in San Francisco. ### What You’ll Do - Build tutorials, demo apps, and videos showing developers how to build real things on Render (with a focus on AI applications, agents, and Render Workflows). - Own Render templates and the `render-examples` GitHub org for the frameworks developers ask about most. - Build agent skills, automation, and internal tools to reduce repetitive content/ops work. - Improve how Render appears in LLM and answer-engine results (debug missing/incorrect answers and ship fixes). - Alpha test new releases end-to-end and write detailed reports on what breaks. - Contribute code to developer-facing surfaces like the Render CLI, MCP server, SDKs, and docs. - Shape the DX content roadmap and quality bar with Product, Engineering, and Marketing. - Set technical direction for DX Engineering through reviews, standards, and your own work. ### What We’re Looking For - 8+ years building developer content, **or** engineering experience teaching/mentoring in developer tools or infrastructure. - Experience setting technical direction and raising the bar for a team. - Full-stack engineering experience: strong backend skills (Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Postgres), comfort with Docker/containers, and enough frontend skill to ship end-to-end sample apps. - Deep, hands-on knowledge of AI agents and their workloads (tools, code execution in sandboxes, long-running tasks with retries/state). - Experience with the agent stack: MCP servers, agent frameworks, LLM APIs, evals, and durable workflow/background job systems. - Daily fluency with coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) and the taste to ship quality work at a steady cadence. - Excellent technical writing. - Track record of owning projects end-to-end with minimal direction. - Strong intuition for developer tools and a love of well-crafted user experiences. ### Nice-to-Haves - Experience using Render (professionally or via side projects). - AEO/SEO experience or measuring content performance in LLM answers. - Public body of work (talks, YouTube, popular open source, or a well-read blog). - Experience presenting workshops and technical talks. ### Example Projects - Video series on building/deploying an MCP server on Render. - Sample app for an upcoming launch built ahead of release. - An agent skill that turns a tutorial into a tested, deployable template. - Tracing why coding agents fail on a specific docs page and shipping the fix. ### Benefits - 4 weeks paid vacation. - 14 weeks fully paid parental leave for all parents. - Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K. - 100% employer-paid medical; 99% employer-paid dental/vision (for you and a dependent). - Monthly lifestyle stipend (wellness, mental health/therapy, hobbies, etc.). - Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy. - Commuter benefits (Bay Area) and home office stipend
