## Exponent — Lead Engineer, AI Accounting **Location:** New York (Flatiron) — **HYBRID** (2+ days in office) **Compensation:** $160k–$200k + equity **Type:** Full-time --- ### About the role Exponent is a financial platform for franchise and multi-location restaurant operators—helping teams manage charge cards, loans, and an **AI-powered Accountant** that pulls data from POS, bank, payroll, and processors, reconciles it, and automates the monthly close. As a **Lead Engineer** you’ll own core systems in the Accountant, including: - **Idempotent ingestion** from unreliable third-party APIs - **Background jobs** that keep thousands of accounts in sync - **LLM classification decisions** inside a ledger that must be correct This is **full-stack in scope, backend-focused in execution**. --- ### Tech stack - **Rails** - **Postgres** - **Sidekiq** We ship **multiple times a day**. --- ### What we’re looking for - **5+ years** of experience - Deep experience in a server-side framework (e.g., **Rails, Django, Phoenix, TypeScript**) - Fluent with **AI-assisted development** - **Fintech and Rails** experience are strong pluses - Ability to **ship fast** and know when to **slow down** --- ### Apply Email **careers@exponentfi.com** with a short note on why this interests you.
