We’re a group of flexible problem-solvers who support proprietary systems and people—from finance to launch operations. --- **AI SOFTWARE ENGINEER I** *Based on-site at Rocket Lab’s Long Beach, CA facility* The AI Software Engineer will develop innovative AI solutions, deploy these systems company-wide, and integrate them with critical internal applications. You’ll join a collaborative team running rapid experiments to identify the most promising AI use cases, while building robust, scalable infrastructure that helps the whole organization leverage AI. **WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO** - Provide access to off-the-shelf AI tools, supporting integration and offering training - Build AI-driven solutions that deliver high value across the organization - Integrate internal applications with AI by implementing AI agents and providing APIs for software developers - Evaluate and integrate specialized AI solutions from external partners - Collaborate with teams, sharing knowledge and training colleagues on practical AI applications - Stay informed about internal developments to identify and assess emerging AI opportunities **YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field - Proficiency in a modern programming language - Familiarity with LLM agents, MCP, and how they are used in current AI solutions **THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE** - 1+ years of experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering - Passion for software—staying up to date and experimenting with interesting technology - Excellent communication skills, including translating technical concepts for diverse audiences - Expert-level Python skills, including libraries commonly used in AI/ML (e.g., pandas to PyTorch) - In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud provider technologies (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) - Proven track record automating CI/CD pipelines with tools such as TeamCity and ArgoCD - Experience with advanced machine learning techniques (deep learning, NLP, or reinforcement learning) *This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.* --- **COMPENSATION & BENEFITS (SUMMARY)** - **Hourly Pay Range (CA Only):** $45.39 — $52 USD - Level and base salary are determined case-by-case based on job-related knowledge/skills, education, and experience. - Rocket Lab offers a comprehensive benefits package including an Employee Stock Purchase Program (15% discount), medical/dental/vision, paid vacation and sick time, paid holidays, flexible spending/dependent care accounts, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match. - Additional perks may include subsidized EV charging, onsite fitness centers (where available), discounted gym memberships, complimentary snacks and beverages, and employee discounts. --- **WHAT TO EXPECT** We’re on a mission to unlock the poten
