Senior Backend Software Engineer (Arsenal 2)
Anduril Industries · Costa Mesa, California, United States
About this role
## Senior Backend Software Engineer (Arsenal 2) ### About Anduril Anduril Industries is a defense technology company on a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By applying the expertise and business models of leading 21st-century innovators to defense, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built, and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by **Lattice OS**, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is focused on delivering cutting-edge **autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking** to the military—**in months, not years**. ### About the Team (Maritime Digital Production / MDP) **Maritime Digital Production (MDP)** is the software and digital systems function within Anduril’s **Heavy Metal** division. MDP builds and deploys the full technology stack powering Anduril’s shipbuilding factories, including: - Data infrastructure to make every machine and sensor visible in real time - **ArsenalOS** (manufacturing execution system) used by workers and planners - A scheduling engine that replans production in minutes instead of days - AI systems that eliminate manual toil across shop floor and business operations MDP operates at the boundary of **Operational Technology (OT)** and **Information Technology (IT)**—where factory-floor machines, edge compute, and OT networks meet enterprise platforms and cloud infrastructure. ### About the Job As a **Senior Full Stack Software Engineer** on the **Systems Integrity Group (SIG)** initiative, you will build **simulation and digital twin validation frameworks** to verify that manufactured output matches engineering intent. You’ll develop full-stack applications powered by **Unreal Engine 5** for 3D visualization, create **V&V automation** tooling, and build interfaces that give engineering and operations teams data-rich, walkable views of the factory and production systems. --- ## What You’ll Do - Build full-stack web applications that orchestrate simulation frameworks, digital twin validation, and V&V automation workflows for manufacturing verification - Develop **UE5-based 3D visualization** interfaces that ingest real-time data from the **Unified Namespace** and render interactive views of factory operations and production systems - Partner with manufacturing engineers and factory operators to translate workflows into software requirements - Write production-quality code with comprehensive tests; participate in code review and architecture discussions - Design and implement tooling to verify manufactured output matches engineering intent (compare as-built geometry, assembly sequences, and quality measurements to design specifications) - Integrate simulation frameworks (OMNeT++, SimPy, Gazebo, CARLA) to enable factory co-simulation and “what-if” scenario testing - Build automated V&V pipelines for integration tests, validation checks, and compliance verification across design, manufacturing, and operations - Deploy and operate systems in factory environments, including edge compute clusters and OT networks - Architect data pipelines connecting CAD models, PLM data, real-time factory sensors, and simulation results into unified visualization and validation workflows - Build responsive web interfaces for V&V dashboards, test management, requirements traceability, and validatio
