About this role
## Anduril Industries — Chief Engineer, USMC Air Defense Programs ### About Anduril Anduril is a defense technology company on a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. Anduril’s systems are powered by **Lattice OS**, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a real-time, 3D command-and-control center. ### About the Team Anduril’s **Air Defense** team develops, integrates, and fields autonomous systems that find, track, and defeat threats in the sky—while keeping operators in control of engagement decisions. The team brings together systems such as **Roadrunner, Sentry, Anvil, Pulsar, and Wisp**, integrating them with existing and third-party sensors and effectors through Lattice. ### About the Job Anduril runs two kinds of air defense programs for the **U.S. Marine Corps**: - **Counter-UAS program of record** (defends Marine Corps installations in the U.S. and overseas) - **Organic counter-UAS** for Marine maneuver forces (dismounted, mounted, and expeditionary formations) As **Chief Engineer**, you are the **single technical authority** across both programs—owning architecture and technical performance for sensors/effectors, integrated third-party and government-furnished systems, and the networks and command-and-control that connect them. ### What You’ll Do - **Portfolio technical authority:** Own system architecture, integration strategy, fielding readiness, and sustainment outcomes across installation and maneuver programs; set technical baselines and chair design reviews. - **Fielded baseline:** Maintain engineering baseline across sites; run engineering change/configuration management so hardware, software, and documentation align. - **Maneuver architecture:** Translate Marine Corps operational concepts into systems Marines can carry/mount/set up and trust; define interfaces to command-and-control and effectors. - **Technical maturity:** Assess what product teams plan to show customers; ensure customer commitments match engineering readiness. - **Field performance and recovery:** Define verification/qualification approach; lead recovery when fielded sites degrade, including overseas sites. - **Customer technical authority:** Represent Anduril’s engineering position to Marine Corps stakeholders (program office, test & evaluation, safety/cybersecurity/fielding authorities). - **Growth:** Support pursuits (white papers, RFIs, ROM estimates, proposals) and write the basis of estimate. ### Required Qualifications - Engineering/science/technical degree (or equivalent practical experience) - **10+ years** systems or engineering experience with technical ownership on fielded systems - End-to-end technical accountability for whether delivered systems worked operationally - Ownership of architecture, interface set, and verification approach for a U.S. defense customer program/portfolio - Ability to carry technical authority across teams that don’t report to you; brief senior leadership and customer program leadership - Ability to negotiate requirements/deviations/acceptance and write credible basis of estimate - Ability to travel up to **25%** (including overseas) - Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active **U.S. Secret** security clearance ### Preferred Qualifications - Experience delivering counter-UAS / ground-based air defense / force protection to the U.S. Marine Corps - Experience running recovery at fielded sites under time pressure (real hardware
