About this role

**SpaceX — Sr. Software Engineer, Full Stack (Data & Video Analysis)** SpaceX is building the technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Vehicle Analysis Tooling team builds the applications that production, test, and flight depend on—owning the full path from high-volume data ingestion and processing (telemetry, sensor data, video) to the tools engineers use to review analysis and act on it, plus the infrastructure those systems run on. --- **Responsibilities** - Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of full-stack applications and platforms used across production, test, and flight (including data processing that turns telemetry/sensor/video into analysis and feeds model inference). - Partner with vehicle, propulsion, test, manufacturing, and inspection engineers on key analysis problems; measure success by time saved and problems caught. - Build internal tools and web interfaces to query, visualize, and act on engineering data and automated analysis results. - Profile and improve performance (data processing, database queries, interactive views of large telemetry/video). Define performance metrics and maintain them as volume grows. - Take statistical models, computer vision, or LLMs from evaluation into production review workflows for anomaly detection and inspection; keep result quality visible after deployment. - Move prototypes into production using automated tests, CI/CD, and a repeatable release process. - Set architecture and team practices for testing, CI/CD, observability, and code review. - Own infrastructure: deployments, monitoring, operations, capacity planning, and reliability. - Operate in production: respond to failures, restore service, and carry fixes into both software and how the system is run; raise the bar for monitoring and incident response. - Move across processing, interfaces, models, and operations—learn unfamiliar areas quickly enough to ship and help others do the same. - Mentor engineers and set technical direction for software and how it’s operated. --- **Basic Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in CS/engineering/math/physics or related scientific discipline, **or** 8+ years professional software experience in lieu of a degree. - 5+ years software development experience. - 3+ years building and operating production applications or data systems (including full-stack development). - 3+ years building production Python systems (data processing, services, or user-facing application code). - 1+ year leading technical work (design reviews, project direction, and code quality). --- **Preferred Skills & Experience** - Production experience with video platforms/infrastructure (ingest, storage, transcoding, playback, review of high-volume engineering video). - Familiarity with LLM tools/capabilities, or experience applying them to computer vision problems in production. - Experience shipping applied ML/statistical models/computer vision into systems others depend on, including serving models for inference (e.g., PyTorch, OpenCV, Ultralytics/YOLO-family, scikit-learn). - Production experience with the Python data stack (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy) and PostgreSQL. - Experience with time-series/signal data (cleaning, transformation, feature extraction, analysis) and/or taking models from training through deployment and maintenance. - Profiling/optimizing production data systems or interactive apps (query latency, memory, throughput, interactive rendering of large datasets) while maintaining gains as volum
