About this role

**Software Engineer — Connect (Vercel)** **About Vercel** Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company, freeing people and agents to ship what’s next. For more than a decade, we’ve helped builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience. We’re scaling our products for both agents and people to ship and run software—built in the open and trusted by OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide. **About the Role** Vercel Connect helps developers give agents and AI-built apps secure access to the data, tools, and events they need—without wrestling with OAuth, credentials, and integration complexity. You’ll help build: - A platform for managing **agent identity, access, and permissions** - A set of **rich connectors** for thousands of systems (e.g., Linear, Slack, GitHub, Google) As a **senior engineer** on this team, you’ll own APIs, token infrastructure, authorization, SDKs, and more—while partnering with external companies to make it easier for developers to integrate their products with agents. **What You Will Do** - Ship **provider integrations end to end** (auth flows, token exchange, app registration, configuration UI), from generic presets to bespoke cases (e.g., Snowflake Partner Connect, Slack manager apps, Microsoft Entra) - Own and improve Connect infrastructure (uptime, performance, secure storage of credentials/keys) and developer experience - Propose and implement new **authentication/authorization protocols** for the AI era - Build and harden **event forwarding** (inbound signature verification, outbound project-scoped identity, correct delivery to deployment/environment) - Make Connect the obvious way to give an agent a credential (extend SDKs, consent-redirect flow, framework adapters) - Reduce the cost of the next hundred integrations so most new providers become configuration rather than code - Work directly with teams building on Connect and turn learnings into platform improvements **About You** - **6+ years** building and operating production backend or full-stack systems; you’ve owned a service/platform surface (not just a feature) - Deep understanding of user problems and a focused approach to improving the product over time - Practical expertise in **OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, and JWTs** (authorization codes, PKCE, refresh semantics, audience/scope restriction, token exchange, and what each protects against) - Strong **security instincts** for integration code (SSRF/DNS rebinding, confused-deputy/mix-up attacks, redirect-URI validation, webhook signature verification, tenant isolation) - Strong **TypeScript**; comfortable across backend and frontend components - Experience integrating with **many third-party APIs** and the judgment to abstract away undocumented/non-compliant behavior - Comfortable with ambiguity; ship incrementally and communicate clearly with teams building on top of you - Interest in leveraging agents/AI in your dev workflow **Bonus Points** - Built/operated an **OAuth authorization server**, identity provider, or multi-tenant integrations platform - Experience with **MCP**, agent tool-calling, or delegated-access/consent patterns - Prior work on integration marketplaces, partner engineering, or webhook infrastructure at scale - Open source contributions (auth, Next.js, or agent tooling ecosystems) **Compensation & Benefits** - Competitive compensation package (including equity) - Inclusive healthcare package - Learn and Gro
