## Forward Deployed Engineer ### About Footprint Footprint is an agentic platform that learns your compliance program and runs it end to end. Compliance teams at banks and fintechs are drowning in financial crimes investigations—Percy (our agentic system) learns each team’s procedures and makes the same calls their analysts would: clearing false positives, escalating real risk, writing the case narrative, and documenting every decision for audit. Percy cuts review workloads by **70%+** and builds an organizational memory so patterns found by one analyst surface automatically across KYC, EDD, sanctions, and monitoring. ### The Role Percy runs financial-crime investigations inside customers’ operations—against their own procedures, on their real data. You’ll be responsible for getting each new customer from the first technical conversation to production by: - **Embedding with banks and fintechs** to learn how they run investigations - **Implementing Percy** and building the agents that perform the work against their procedures - **Configuring and extending the product** (per-account bespoke builds are out of scope) - Handling **edge cases** with clever engineering solutions while improving the product for future customers You’ll report directly to the CTO, **Alex Grinman**. ### What You’ll Own - **Percy implementations**: Lead technical deployment and integration from first API call through analyst trust and production readiness - **The agents**: Configure and build Percy agents for each customer’s investigation procedures; iterate until outputs are trusted and production-ready - **Backtests**: Run Percy against historical cases and compare decisions to what analysts already did (this is key to go-live) - **Whatever’s in the way**: Diagnose and resolve bugs/edge cases across the stack; partner with core engineering on deeper fixes - **Customer relationship (technical side)**: Be the engineer customers rely on during and after rollout—credible, relentless, and focused on getting to a working solution - **Loop back to product**: Bring field patterns, gaps, and feature needs back to the team so improvements ship before the third customer asks - **Repeatability**: Build tooling, templates, and patterns that make each implementation faster than the last ### Stack - Python, TypeScript, Rust - SQL - Graph + memory systems - Percy agent tooling - Customer APIs and data pipelines ### Must-Haves - **2–4 years** building software (ideally including customer-facing solutions/implementation engineering) - Strong in at least one of: **Python, TypeScript, Rust, Java, C++,** or another well-established language; able to pick up unfamiliar stack quickly - Rigorous engineering foundation; can reason from first principles - Experience debugging across boundaries you don’t control (APIs, data, environments) - Familiarity with **AI/LLM agents** and how to configure/build/prompt them effectively - Clear communication with technical + non-technical stakeholders; turn fuzzy requirements into a concrete plan - Experience being the first person in a role without a playbook (and writing it) - Ability to deliver hard feedback while maintaining trust - Willingness to **travel to customer sites** ### Nice-to-Have - Forward-deployed solutions/implementation/technical consulting experience (startup or enterprise) - Exposure to fintech, financial services, compliance, fraud, or AML/KYC - Experience building and validating end-to-end integrations (APIs, data pipe
