## Software Engineer — Forward Deployed ### What excites you - You thrive at the intersection of engineering and customer + product success, translating ambiguous business needs into elegant technical solutions. - You enjoy working directly with customers to understand their challenges and architect solutions that change how they operate. - You like owning the full customer journey—from initial discovery through production deployment and continuous iteration. - You’ve worked on early-stage teams (possibly even as a founder) and can wear multiple hats while staying focused on impact. - You’re great at navigating ambiguity and making smart tradeoffs between customer needs, technical constraints, and business objectives. - You build solutions that may not be glamorous, but deliver tangible, measurable value. ### What excites us - 5+ years of hands-on experience shipping production systems, driving customer outcomes from concept to deployment. - Comfort owning the customer journey from pre-sales discovery through production implementation and ongoing optimization. - Strong technical problem-solving in fast-changing, ambiguous environments. - Full-stack generalist: Ruby on Rails / Hotwire / TypeScript / React / Node.js / Postgres. - Experience with system integrations, APIs, and building reliable data pipelines between enterprise systems. - Excellent technical communication—translating complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders and gathering clear requirements. - Experience building software for industries with complex operational workflows (ideally hospitality, payments, or marketplaces). - Hands-on engineering role with product management, technical customer success, and solution architecture elements. ### What you’ll do - **Drive end-to-end implementations:** Partner with hotel partners and suppliers to architect, build, and deploy integrations with ERP systems, property management systems, and operational tools. - **Own the customer technical journey:** Lead technical discovery, design custom solutions, and ensure successful production deployments that meet business requirements. - **Build scalable integration frameworks:** Create reusable patterns and self-serve tools to accelerate future implementations while supporting customer-specific needs. - **Enable rapid onboarding:** Identify patterns across implementations and build features that reduce time-to-value for new partners. - **Shape the product roadmap:** Surface unmet needs from customer work, prototype solutions, and collaborate with product + engineering. - **Support strategic partnerships:** Work with sales and go-to-market teams to ensure reliable integrations that can become distribution channels. ### Working at Folio - Folio is a **Ruby on Rails** app with **TypeScript/Node.js** automations deployed to **AWS**. - Daily standup (except Friday); otherwise keep meetings minimal. - Remote-first.
