Deepgram’s voice-native foundation models are available via cloud APIs or self-hosted/on-prem software, with a focus on accuracy, low latency, and cost efficiency. ### Team Overview Deepgram Research builds the speech-to-text and text-to-speech foundation models behind the platform. As a Research software engineer, you’ll build the systems that enable experiments—training infrastructure, data pipelines, and evaluation tooling—working closely with research scientists, data, infrastructure, and product teams. ### Key Goals - Shorten the STT/TTS model development cycle (data prep → training → evaluation) by architecting horizontally scalable training systems - Build high-throughput pipelines to ingest, version, and preprocess large, diverse sets of unstructured audio and text - Own research infrastructure end-to-end (distributed training, job orchestration, experiment tracking, and storage) in partnership with the Infrastructure team - Ship automated evaluation tooling so researchers can validate or kill ideas quickly - Turn research proofs-of-concept into production-grade systems for Deepgram’s STT and TTS models - Build internal tools and dashboards that give non-technical stakeholders visibility into and control over ML workflows - Set technical direction by writing design docs for what gets built next ### Operating Rhythm (AI-First) Deepgram expects an AI-first mindset—actively using and experimenting with advanced AI tools, integrating AI into workflows, and continuously pushing what these technologies can do.
