**Asana is hiring: Head of IT Systems Engineering** ## Overview Lead the team that powers how every Asana employee works. Reporting to the Head of IT, you’ll own the strategy, architecture, and operations behind Asana’s SaaS productivity applications, corporate endpoints, identity, and user lifecycle—setting standards and a roadmap that keep employees secure and productive. You’ll also influence how Asana evaluates, adopts, and governs the tools and platforms employees rely on. You will be responsible for the **Client Platform Engineering**, **Application Engineering**, and **Identity & Integrations** teams (this role has **one manager-level report**). ## What you’ll achieve - Develop the multi-year vision, roadmap, and architecture for Systems Engineering, aligned with Asana’s business priorities and AI strategy - Accelerate an **Agentified Asana**, helping teams embrace tools and reduce friction from manual work - Partner across Asana to build and maintain an efficient portfolio of SaaS tools - Lead, develop, and grow the Client Platform Engineering, Application Engineering, and Identity & Integrations teams (hiring, performance, succession planning, career development) - Own strategy and operations for corporate endpoint management, SaaS application management, identity, and the full user lifecycle - Drive IT’s AI strategy: evaluate and govern platforms (e.g., Claude, Gemini, OpenAI) and build AI agents/automation for onboarding, access requests, support, and compliance workflows - Partner with Security, Legal, and Privacy to set AI usage policies, data access controls, and vendor risk standards (including identity-based access and data loss prevention for AI tools/integrations) - Set client platform standards and drive excellence in performance, patching, and configuration compliance - Partner with IT Support, IT Infrastructure, and Security to resolve issues, reduce risk, and improve the employee experience - Represent Systems Engineering to senior stakeholders with clear communication of priorities, tradeoffs, and results ## About you - **10+ years** of IT experience, including **5+ years** leading systems/software engineers in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment - Proven ownership of purchasing, inventory management, and budgeting at scale - Strong hands-on knowledge of IAM practices and cloud identity (SSO, SAML, SCIM) - Experience with hosted cloud applications (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace, Asana, Figma, Slack) - Experience establishing governance for emerging technology (AI usage policy, data protection, vendor risk review) - Track record of setting strategy and roadmaps, delegating effectively while staying close enough to coach and unblock - Experience with configuration management/automation tools (e.g., JAMF, Intune, Puppet, Munki) - Working knowledge of scripting and API integration (REST, OAuth, Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent) - Hands-on experience with enterprise AI platforms (e.g., Claude, OpenAI) including deployment, administration, and integration via APIs/connectors/MCP servers - Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and apply them to improve productivity and decision-making ## How you work - Strong problem-solving with a positive, service-oriented attitude - Excellent communication and documentation; able to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners - Curious and experimental with AI; able to lead a team through rapid change ## Location
