We’re the creators and stewards of the Experience Management category, serving 18K+ clients globally. **Role: Software Engineer I (XMD)** Qualtrics is seeking a **Software Engineer I** to join our **XM Directory (XMD) Engineering team** in our **Seattle office**. If you have a Bachelor’s degree, some software engineering experience (or relevant internships), and want to work at a fast-growing tech company, Qualtrics could be the place you’ve been dreaming about. You should *love* building simple solutions to solve hard customer problems and designing systems in an agile environment to withstand hyper growth. --- ## How You’ll Find Success - Create trust through thorough communication with customers and teams - Bring strong curiosity - Take initiative and show scrappiness; ask for help early when blocked - Work well in teams (partnering with managers, cross-functional teams, and teammates) - Use an analytical mindset to approach problems and find solutions - Show a desire to learn new skills and grow in the role ## How You’ll Grow - Develop the ability to build scalable, fast, robust, and simple SaaS solutions - Learn dev tools, operational tools, test tools, and containerization - Implement functionality from well-defined technical requirements and specifications - Collaborate with other engineers, tech-ops, and product managers - Learn Agile methodologies via daily stand-ups, task prioritization, and delivering value on a scheduled plan ## Things You’ll Do - Build backend services and web interfaces while learning our stack - Implement features and fix bugs with guidance from teammates, using AI-assisted tools to work faster and learn more - Work with senior engineers to break down requirements and ensure what you build works - Write well-tested code; review your own and AI-assisted work carefully; give and receive feedback in code reviews - Learn our codebase and tools; ask questions early - Collaborate with teammates, product, and design using agile practices to deliver value to customers ## What We’re Looking For On Your Resume - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field - Prior software engineering experience via internships, co-ops, academic coursework, or personal/open-source projects - Solid algorithms, data structures, and coding fundamentals - Exposure to web infrastructure and distributed systems - Familiarity/experience with modern developer tools, git, unit testing, and continuous deployment concepts - Foundational understanding of clean coding principles, with eagerness to learn, take guidance, and contribute ## What You Should Know About This Team (XMD) - XM Directory is where knowledge about people lives - It captures interactions (customer, employee, stakeholder) and builds living profiles over time - Experience context helps close the Experience Gap and enables AI (including Experience Agents) to act in moments that matter - You’ll work on the data layer behind a next-generation XM Data & AI Platform - The team solves big-data problems: storage at scale plus computation and serving layers for fast, useful access - As a Software Engineer I, you’ll build skills in distributed systems, frontend development, and databases—learning from senior engineers while taking on meaningful problems early ## Team Perks & Benefits -
