About this role
**Director, Software Engineering — Agent Platform (SentinelOne)** ## Purpose At SentinelOne, our mission is to give the advantage to those who secure our future. As AI reshapes how organizations build, operate, and innovate, protecting them becomes more critical than ever. ## About the Role As **Director, Software Engineering (Agent Platform)**, you’ll lead the **Agent Platform organization**, which owns the **control plane** every SentinelOne agent depends on—covering: - Agent communication & configuration - Agent management & health - Detection services that turn agent telemetry into customer protection When the platform is healthy, the rest of the product works; when it isn’t, customers feel it immediately. This is a **US-based role** leading a distributed organization of ~**45 engineers** across **Czech Republic, Israel, India, and the United States**. You’ll own delivery, operational health, and the customer/executive-facing side of the domain during **US business hours**, partnering closely with the **SaaS Platform architecture** group on a platform re-architecture. **Location requirement:** Candidates must be based in **EST or CST** time zones. ## What You’ll Do - **Own the domain end-to-end**: delivery, operational health, quality, and roadmap commitments for Agent Platform. - **Drive reliability**: continue the reliability program—reduce incident inflow, close corrective actions on a clock, and build observability to catch issues before customers do. - **Lead and grow managers**: four engineering managers across three geographies report into this role. - **Represent the domain** to executives and customers, including incident communication and regular forums; engage directly with enterprise, MSSP, and federal customers. - **Partner cross-domain** with agent/endpoint orgs, SaaS Platform architecture, Product Management, and SRE to land outcomes. - **Execute the re-architecture**: transition from a monolithic control plane to **regional, horizontally scalable services**, and move to a **modern container-based deployment model**—while keeping the existing platform running for customers. - **Plan capacity & headcount** balancing reliability, re-architecture, and feature delivery; make trade-offs explicit. - **Build US presence** by growing senior engineering capability in the US so the domain has depth during US hours. - **Deliver first-year success**, including: - Materially lower incident inflow with sustained trend - Corrective actions closing within target windows - Clear, proactive domain health visibility for leadership/customers - Scalable regional services + deployment modernization milestones delivered without customer regressions - Predictable team execution and stronger managers - Increased US senior engineering presence ## What Skills & Knowledge You’ll Bring Ideal candidates have: - **Distributed leadership** across time zones/cultures with clear ownership, strong written communication, deliberate overlap, and trust-building. - **Operational ownership** of a high-availability SaaS platform in production (incident command, root cause discipline, SLOs, and improving reliability with data). - **Technical depth** in distributed backend systems at scale (cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, data stores, multi-tenancy) and the ability to evaluate designs credibly. - **Executive & customer communication** that delivers accurate (even when difficult) technical truth. - **Delivery discipline** with predictable e
