Software Engineer, Applied AI
Fluidstack · San Francisco, CA
About this role
## About Fluidstack Fluidstack exists to make humanity more free. We’re building **civilization-scale AI infrastructure**—acquiring power, designing and building data centers, and operating them—so frontier AI can expand human freedom. We’re focused on delivering **10 to 100s of GW of compute faster than anyone else**, rethinking every layer of the stack. --- ## How We Operate - **Be a barrel:** Full autonomy. Own things end-to-end; take on scope without being asked. - **Insane urgency:** Move fast and push forward. - **Reason from first principles:** Challenge assumptions; best idea wins. - **Love of the game:** Long hours, high intensity, frontier problems. - **Build something that actually matters:** Work that improves the world. --- ## Software Engineering Team — Example Problems - Building a pipeline to process **thousand-page vendor unstructured material** to automate **end-to-end site design and scheduling**. - Creating a **live model** of an AI infrastructure project’s delivery schedule with durable workflows that replace static Gantt charts. - Developing an **agent platform** with real **authorization, audit, and guardrails** so agents can accelerate infrastructure development safely. --- ## Role Scope - Build **core primitives end-to-end**: entity ownership, audit, authorization, orchestration. - Own the **domain model**: turn power, datacenters, and chips into composable entities that last. - Define **interactions with the outside**: interface with vendor systems and ingest formats like **KMZ, BIM, Revit,** and vendor docs. - Make **AI agents first-class operators** with tools, guardrails, and audit trails. --- ## What We’re Looking For - Comfortable moving toward **ambiguity** and mapping the unknown. - Ability to learn unfamiliar domains quickly (e.g., workflow engines, authz models, geospatial formats). - **Taste in abstraction**: identify the real primitive; know when not to abstract. - Domain modeling with rigor—learned the hard way. - Experience extracting structure from messy, unstructured data (ML, data engineering, or research). - Fluent with AI tooling: **LLM APIs, MCP servers, agentic frameworks**; use tools like **Claude Code / Cursor** daily. - Shipped **production code** others depend on; comfortable using AI coding tools. **Bonus:** - MLE work (extraction/synthesis from unstructured data) - Workflow/orchestration engines (Temporal, Cadence, Airflow) - Geospatial (KMZ/GIS) or BIM (Revit, IFC) - Authorization/policy engines (OPA, Zanzibar-style, RBAC/ABAC) - Audit/event-sourcing systems - **Go, TypeScript, Postgres** --- ## Salary & Benefits - Competitive total compensation (**salary + equity**) - Retirement/pension plan (local norms) - Health, dental, and vision insurance - Generous PTO (local norms) - Pay equity and transparency commitment --- ## Equal Opportunity Fluidstack is an **Equal Employment Opportunity Employer** and will consider qualified applicants without regard to protected characteristics under applicable law. --- ## Apply https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/fluidstack/05c2e69c-42f9-4fcb-9cf0-a467aaf98f1c
