About this role

## About Fluidstack We exist to make humanity more free. We build and operate civilization-scale compute infrastructure for AI—acquiring power, designing and building data centers, and running them with teams spanning hardware and software. ## How We Operate - **Be a barrel:** Full autonomy. Own things end to end. - **Insane urgency:** Move fast and drive everything forward. - **Reason from first principles:** Challenge assumptions; the best idea wins. - **Love of the game:** High intensity, long hours to push the frontier. - **Build something that actually matters:** Work that improves the world. ## The Production Engineering Team Key problems the team is working on: - **Scale observability for the physical plant:** Telemetry, alarms, topology, and health across every site. - **Turn facility incidents into a closed repair loop:** Automate detection → diagnosis → maintenance → remediation → validation → return to service. - **Bring new sites and equipment into production safely at construction speed:** Readiness gates, commissioning signals, staged deployments, canaries, and rollback. - **Keep operators ahead of power and cooling risk:** Capacity views, safeguards, anomaly detection, service-health reviews, and operational tooling. ## Role Scope (Production Engineer, Facilities) - **Carry the facilities production on-call pager** and lead incidents involving facility software, telemetry, controls integrations, and automation. Diagnose, coordinate, restore service, and drive systemic fixes. - **Own production reliability** of the facilities telemetry and alarm platform end to end (ingestion, storage, APIs, data-quality checks, actionable alerts, retention, backups, failover, recovery). - **Turn diagnosis and repair into pipelines**: Build Python/Go tooling for fleet-wide debugging, maintenance workflows, automated validation, incident response, and safe return to service. - **Own production deployment and runtime management** for facilities services, including BMS/EPMS integrations, SCADA (e.g., Ignition), virtual PLCs, and demand management. - **Define and enforce production-readiness standards** for new sites, equipment, APIs, telemetry integrations, and controls deployments (tests, canaries, release gates, staged promotion, rollback). - **Own operational maturity**: Establish SLOs, capacity plans, health dashboards, runbooks, escalation paths, incident drills, and service reviews. - **Partner cross-functionally** with Facilities Software Automation, Controls & Design Engineering, Field Engineering, and Facilities Operations. ## What We’re Looking For - You’ve **carried a pager** for production infrastructure and can run incidents from alert → restoration → postmortem → systemic fix. - **2+ years** of applied industry experience. - You’ve written **production automation** in Python, Go, or similar to replace manual operational workflows. - You understand **observability as an operating system** (service health, alerts, SLOs, review rhythms). - You can **debug across system boundaries** (sensor/controller → industrial protocol → pipeline → API → dashboards → operator workflow). - You treat **toil as a bug** and build safe, repeatable paths. - Comfort with **infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, GitOps, deployment pipelines, and production data systems**. - Ability to move toward **ambiguous, high-impact failures** and build enough domain knowledge to decide quickly. - Strong collaboration without blurring ownership across software, co
