Security Engineer, Network
Fluidstack · Austin, TX
About this role
**Security Engineer, Network** **About Fluidstack** Fluidstack exists to make humanity more free. We build and operate civilization-scale AI compute infrastructure—acquiring power, designing and building data centers, and running them with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our differentiators. **How we operate** - **Be a barrel:** Full autonomy. Own things end to end—no permission required to operate outside your core role. - **Insane urgency:** We move fast and push everything forward. - **Reason from first principles:** Challenge assumptions; the best idea wins. - **Love of the game:** High intensity, long hours, focused on the frontier of AI. - **Build something that matters:** Work that impacts the world. **The Security Team** - **Secure the frontier of AI:** Protect the most valuable and targeted artifacts—model weights—by securing the infrastructure that holds them. - **Build the security program from scratch:** Own security end to end, from bare metal to the boardroom, as we scale across continents. - **Threat surface at gigawatt scale:** Customers run consequential technology on our infrastructure—physical and logical security matters. **Role scope** - Design and defend **network security architecture** across data centers, corporate environments, and cloud (segmentation, firewalls, east-west controls at gigawatt scale). - Build **network detection** (telemetry, flow analysis, alerting) across training fabrics, OT networks, and the WAN. - **Harden OT and BMS** where the network touches physical plant against threats most security teams never see. - **Automate network security controls** so new sites inherit the architecture on day one. **What we’re looking for** - Secured **production networks at scale**; comfortable reading packet captures like dashboards. - Designed **segmentation** for mixed IT/OT environments and high-value compute. - Deployed and tuned **NDR or flow-based detection** that found real intrusions. - Uses **infrastructure-as-code** (firewall rules live in a repo, not a GUI). - Partners with network engineering without becoming the “department of no.” - **Bonus:** OT/ICS security; data center or cloud provider environments; **BGP/routing security**; **Zeek or Suricata**. **Physical requirements** - Work in **non-climate-controlled environments** (construction areas, data halls, electrical/mechanical rooms, outdoor spaces). Conditions may be hot/cold, humid, loud, or dusty. - Lift/carry/push/pull up to **40 lbs**. - Sit/stand/walk/kneel/bend/crouch for long periods, including full shifts on your feet. - Wear required **PPE** (hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, hearing protection) and follow site safety rules. - Climb stairs and ladders; move around equipment, cable trays, and uneven surfaces. **Equal Employment Opportunity** Fluidstack is an **Equal Employment Opportunity Employer**. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to protected characteristics under applicable law. **Apply** https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/fluidstack/05c2e69c-42f9-4fcb-9cf0-a467aaf98f1c
