Security Architect, AI Infrastructure
Fluidstack · San Francisco, CA
About this role
## About Fluidstack Fluidstack exists to make humanity more free. We’re building **civilization-scale AI compute infrastructure**—acquiring power, designing and operating data centers, and rethinking every layer of the stack to deliver **10 to 100s of GW of compute faster than anyone else**. ## How We Operate - **Be a barrel**: Full autonomy. Own things end to end. - **Insane urgency**: Move fast and push forward. - **Reason from first principles**: Challenge assumptions; best idea wins. - **Love of the game**: High intensity, long hours. - **Build something that actually matters**: Work that impacts the world. ## Security Team — What You’ll Help Solve - **Secure the frontier of AI**: Protect the most valuable and targeted artifacts—**model weights**—and prevent the “frontier walking out the door.” - **Build the security program from scratch**: Own it end to end, from **bare metal to boardroom**, as we scale across continents. - **Threat surface measured in gigawatts**: Secure the physical and logical security of compute powering consequential technology. ## Role Scope - Own the **attack surface unique to frontier compute**, including: - model weights custody - training environment isolation - accelerator and interconnect security - multi-tenant boundaries under real adversarial pressure - Design **reference architectures and standards** that security engineering builds to—keeping the design/build seam clean. - Treat the **workload as part of the threat model** and architect environments that remain defensible even when the workload is the adversary. - Run **security design reviews** across systems touching training/inference environments (bare metal, fabric, scheduler, storage). - Stay ahead of where frontier compute is going (new accelerators, interconnect generations, confidential computing, agentic workloads) and have architecture ready before it lands. ## What We’re Looking For - Experience securing **AI, ML, or HPC infrastructure** where assets were genuinely worth stealing (e.g., lab infrastructure, supercomputing centers, research environments with nation-state attention). - Ability to architect **isolation at every layer**: hardware, firmware, hypervisor, kernel, containers, network fabric, and physical security. - Strong understanding of AI compute infrastructure as a system (accelerators, high-speed interconnects, parallel storage, schedulers) and where components break classical security assumptions. - Original work in **systems or ML security** (published or shipped) and the ability to turn research into architectures engineers can build. - Can defend design decisions in review and revise when closer-to-metal evidence proves otherwise. - **Bonus**: Confidential computing and attestation depth; weights/key custody at scale; publication record in systems/ML security. ## Equal Opportunity Fluidstack is an **Equal Employment Opportunity Employer**. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or other protected characteristics under law. Fluidstack also considers applicants with arrest and conviction records pursuant to applicable law. ## Apply Apply here: https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/fluidstack/05c2e69c-42f9-4fcb-9cf0-a467aaf98f1c Privacy/Notices: - Applicant Privacy Notice: https://fluidstack.io/legal/applicant-privacy-notice - AI Screening Notice: https://fluidstack.io/le
