Platform Engineer

About this role
## About Fluidstack Fluidstack exists to make humanity more free. We’re building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI—acquiring power, designing and operating data centers, and rethinking every layer of the stack to deliver **10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster** than anyone else. ## How We Operate - **Be a barrel:** Full autonomy. Own things end to end—no permission required to operate outside your core role. - **Insane urgency:** We move fast and push the frontier forward. - **Reason from first principles:** Challenge assumptions; no ego—best idea wins. - **Love of the game:** Long hours at high intensity to solve the most interesting problems. - **Build something that actually matters:** Spend your time on work that impacts the world. ## The Security Team We’re securing the frontier of AI. The model weights trained on our infrastructure are among the most valuable and targeted artifacts in technology—so a breach isn’t a leak, it’s the frontier walking out the door. **Key problems we’re working on include:** - **Building the security program from scratch** (bare metal to boardroom) as we scale across continents. - **Replacing the industry playbook** (vendor appliances, manual processes, assumptions that security teams walk the floor) with what actually fits our build. - **Operating a threat surface measured in gigawatts**—responsible for physical and logical security of consequential customer workloads. ## Role Scope (Platform Engineer) - Build **infrastructure as code** that stands up a site’s entire security platform—so onboarding a campus is a pipeline run, not a project. - Own **CI/CD and the release path** for the security stack so every change is production tested, versioned, and reversible. - Automate remediation so “done twice becomes code.” - Build the **package and patch pipeline** to keep a growing fleet current without touching hosts. - Get automation in place ahead of the platform it serves so on-call remains manageable as campuses multiply. ## What We’re Looking For - You’ve built infrastructure as code that others deploy, and the systems created by your pipelines outnumber runbook-built systems. - You’ve automated yourself out of work and can clearly explain what the team stopped doing. - You’ve owned CI/CD for infrastructure, including how bad changes are caught and rolled back. - You’ve automated **Windows fleets** (tooling is thinner and ecosystems less forgiving than Linux). - You’ve kept on-call survivable by removing causes—not by writing more runbooks. - You write production code and review others’ code. - You build tooling for non-engineers and they actually use it. **Bonus (examples):** - Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell DSC) - CI/CD for infrastructure (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) - Windows package & patch automation (Chocolatey, WSUS, Intune) - Observability & alerting (Prometheus, Grafana) - Physical security / building security platforms (e.g., Genetec Security Center, access control, IoT device fleets) ## Equal Opportunity Fluidstack is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
