About this role
## Security Engineer, Infrastructure ### About Fluidstack Fluidstack exists to make humanity more free. We build and operate civilization-scale AI compute infrastructure—acquiring power, designing and building data centers, and running them with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. ### How We Operate - **Be a barrel:** Full autonomy. Own things end to end—no permission required to operate outside your core role. - **Insane urgency:** We move fast and push everything forward. - **Reason from first principles:** Challenge assumptions; no ego—best idea wins. - **Love of the game:** High intensity, long hours, focused on the frontier of AI. - **Build something that actually matters:** Spend your time on work that impacts the world. ### The Security Team You’ll help secure the frontier of AI by protecting the most valuable and targeted artifacts in technology—**the model weights training on our infrastructure**. Key problems the team is working on: - **Secure the frontier:** A breach isn’t a leak—it’s the frontier walking out the door. - **Build the security program from scratch:** Own security end to end, from **bare metal to boardroom**, as we scale across continents. - **Protect a threat surface measured in gigawatts:** Secure physical and logical boundaries for multi-tenant infrastructure used by the most consequential AI workloads. ### Role Scope - Own security across **cloud and bare-metal control planes** that provision infrastructure for leading AI labs. - Forward-deploy with engineering to implement security controls such as: - Workload identity - PKI - Least-privileged access - Secrets management - Partner with other security teams to bring desired configurations into infrastructure and feed ground-truth back to the security org. - Make security an invisible default by baking controls into infrastructure: - Policy-as-code - Admission control - IaC modules - Secure defaults - Secure the **multi-tenant boundary** where customer workloads share infrastructure. ### What We’re Looking For You should have a track record working alongside engineers to drive security forward in high-performance orgs (e.g., RFCs, code review, collaboration). You should also have: - Production-level coding experience and the ability to reason about maintainability and downstream impacts (**Golang, Python**). - Familiarity with modern infrastructure deployment tools and methodologies (**GitOps, IaC, Kubernetes, CI**) and hands-on contribution/deployment. - Ownership of end-to-end implementation of real security controls in production. Experience in at least one of the following is preferred: - Public cloud security (**AWS, GCP**) - Cloud-native security (**Kubernetes, containerization, CNCF ecosystem**) - Secrets management (**Vault or similar**) - Public key infrastructure (**step-ca**) - Machine/workload identity (**OIDC, SPIFFE/SPIRE**) - Just-in-time access to production systems - Software supply chain security (**SLSA, CI/CD hardening, signing and attestation**) ### Salary & Benefits - Competitive total compensation (**salary + equity**) - Retirement/pension plan (local norms) - Health, dental, and vision insurance - Generous PTO (local norms) - Pay equity and transparency commitment ### Equal Employment Opportunity Fluidstack is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
