Decision Engineer, Infrastructure Development & Delivery
Fluidstack · San Francisco, CA
About this role
**Decision Engineer, Infrastructure Development & Delivery** **About Fluidstack** Fluidstack exists to make humanity more free. We’re building civilization-scale AI infrastructure—acquiring power, designing and building data centers, and operating them—so frontier compute can be deployed faster than anyone else. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. **How We Operate** - **Be a barrel:** Full autonomy. Own things end to end; take on scope without being asked. - **Insane urgency:** Move everything forward as fast as possible. - **Reason from first principles:** Challenge assumptions; no ego—best idea wins. - **Love of the game:** High-intensity long hours to push the frontier. - **Build something that actually matters:** Spend your time on work with real world impact. **The Decision Team (examples of key problems)** - **Automate delivery of gigawatts:** Turn every step from land to live compute into software (schedules, decisions, and tasks from a live knowledge graph). - **Forward-deploy beside experts:** Convert on-the-floor judgment into systems that reach every unit. - **Deliver every supercomputer faster than the last:** Feed lessons learned at one site into preventive checks across many concurrent projects. **Role Scope** - **Build the portfolio schedule:** One template per building type, instantiated per project, with activities tied to consumed materials—so need-by dates fall out of the critical path (not spreadsheets). - **Turn the site into structured data:** Capture work packages, contractor entries, rack placements, cable runs, and QA inspections as records tied to the design revision; compute percent complete from evidence. - **Ship change orders as a workflow:** Draft scope/cost/schedule impact from design deltas, route through legal/finance/general contractor with an approval trail, and update BOM + schedule immediately. - **Make the design the source of truth:** Ingest BIM straight into BOM with reviewable diffs; generate submittal requirements per spec section; keep sites/buildings/data halls as one canonical record. - **Ship commissioning as software:** Generate test procedures per asset from design revisions; land results as evidence against tested assets; energization gates that check themselves; handover based on proof. **What We’re Looking For** - Shipped production code in **Go, Python, or TypeScript** (and can pick up whatever language the problem demands). - Can identify problems, design solutions, and ship without waiting for direction/approval. - Can move fast under deadlines while leaving strong foundations for others. - Earned credibility with people who build physical things (construction leads, field engineers, schedulers, commissioning agents) and drove adoption in real deadlines. - Strong product/workflow taste: interfaces field crews find obvious; workflows that match how work actually happens. **Bonus** - Construction tech or project controls (**P6**, schedule engines, critical path) - **BIM/IFC/Revit** data models - Commissioning, **BMS/EPMS**, or controls protocols - Document control and submittal workflows - Graph data models - Computer vision on site imagery **Benefits** - Competitive total compensation (**cash + equity**) - Health, dental, and vision insurance - Retirement plan - Generous PTO policy **Equal Opportunity** Fluidstack is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to protected characteristics. **Apply** ht
