## Forward Deployed Engineer — FleetPulse™ FleetPulse™ is a trailer telematics company delivering end-to-end visibility into trailer safety and cargo security. Based in **Chicago, Illinois**, we combine deep trucking industry roots with expert tech talent to build cutting-edge telematics solutions across OEM-installed sensors, easy-to-install aftermarket sensors, and cargo cameras. This role is **on-site in Chicago, IL**. **Relocation assistance is not provided.** --- ## What you’ll do - Work directly alongside **customers and stakeholders**—own initiatives end-to-end and ship solutions with immediate, visible impact. - Help improve the **FleetPulse platform** across the full stack. - Contribute across the platform stack (opportunities in both **frontend and backend**). - Partner with product stakeholders to refine requirements, drive projects forward, and translate real customer problems into solutions. - Navigate ambiguity to help define what needs to be built—not just execute on a spec. - Elevate technical standards by leading **code/design reviews** and mentoring engineers. --- ## Tech stack - **Kotlin/Java** - **React** - **React Native** - (Experience with similar web application frameworks is valuable.) --- ## Qualifications - **5+ years** as a professional software developer - Experience with **Kotlin, Java, Python**, or another backend language - Experience with **AWS / GCP** - Familiarity with **relational databases** and **schema design** - Passion for **code quality** and engineering best practices - Experience with **large distributed systems**, with emphasis on **observability** (instrumentation, monitoring) - Strong collaboration skills in a supportive, team-driven environment --- ## Benefits - **Unlimited PTO** - **Company 6% 401(k) match** - Choice of **three healthcare plans** - **Dental & Vision** - Company-provided **STD, LTD, and Life Insurance** - **12 paid company holidays** - **Full paid parental leave** **Compensation range:** **$140,000 – $165,000 annually** --- ## Work environment - Ability to **travel to and attend the office in person** as required - Noise level is usually **minimal to moderate** --- ## Ready to apply?
