## About Thumbtack Thumbtack helps millions of people confidently care for their homes—connecting homeowners with the right projects, timing, and local service businesses. ## Business Applications Team The Business Applications org builds and operates the internal systems that keep Thumbtack running at scale (e.g., Salesforce-centered workflows, admin tooling, and cross-team integrations). They’re expanding this foundation into a broader internal platform for **AI-enabled work**, including shared APIs, reusable integration patterns, and **safe, auditable** capabilities for business-critical actions. ## The Challenge Agents can already take action inside Thumbtack’s internal systems. The harder problem is making automation **trustworthy** for business teams—by enabling configuration of what agents are allowed to do, review/correction of agent work, and clear visibility into what happened and why. ## Role: Full-Stack Engineer, AI Platform You’ll own the product surface that turns agent capability into something business teams can rely on for business-critical work—along with the services behind it. ### What you’ll do - Design and build the interfaces business teams use to: - configure agents - review their work - approve or correct actions - understand what happened and why - Build observability and evaluation tooling to make agent behavior legible (successes, failures, and impact of changes) - Work across the stack end-to-end (React + TypeScript through service code and data models), owning features from build → test → launch → iteration - Partner directly with business teams; translate ambiguous operational needs into working software - Own the full lifecycle of your work, including monitoring and post-launch improvements ### Requirements - **3+ years** of professional software engineering experience - Strong frontend skills with **React** and **TypeScript**, including complex state and data-dense interfaces - Solid backend engineering ability (they use **Go, PHP, and Python**; expect to pick up new languages) - Working knowledge of relational and non-relational data stores (e.g., **Postgres, DynamoDB**) - Strong product judgment (know what to build and what to cut) - Interest in non-deterministic systems (uncertainty, partial failure, designing for human correction) - Ability to navigate ambiguity, close knowledge gaps, and deliver in an evolving environment ## Compensation (Expected Total Cash) - **San Francisco / Bay Area, San Jose, NYC, Seattle metros:** $177,700.00 – $229,900.00 - **Austin, TX / Washington DC metros** and **CA, MA, NJ, WA states:** $159,800.00 – $206,800.00 - **All other US locations:** $151,300.00 – $195,800.00 *Actual offers vary based on calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and role proficiency.* ## Equal Opportunity & Safety Thumbtack is an equal opportunity workplace and committed to reasonable accommodations.
