About this role
## Staff Developer Relations Engineer (Remote - US) ### About Render At Render, we’re building a modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. Our mission is to remove the tradeoff between hyperscaler power and developer-friendly simplicity—so teams can ship fast, scale reliably, and focus on product instead of infrastructure. Render offers a developer-first experience with persistent compute, dynamic autoscaling, built-in orchestration, and observability—helping teams launch, scale, and manage real-world applications without writing infrastructure code or managing servers. ### About the Role Render is looking for a **Staff Developer Relations Engineer** to grow usage and word of mouth for Render among developers building full-stack and AI applications. You’ll be Render’s **technical face on stage**—leading workshops, meetups, and events—and in the developer/AI ecosystems where our users build. You’ll set the technical bar and direction for DevRel, and be the person developers and partners go to for deep, candid answers about running AI workloads on Render. DX at Render has two halves: - **DX Engineering**: builds and maintains tutorials, sample apps, templates, and the video library. - **DevRel**: brings Render to developers in person and through trusted communities/partners, then feeds what it learns back into the product. **Location:** Remote within the US, with the option to work from our headquarters in **San Francisco**. Expect regular travel for conferences and events. --- ## What You’ll Do - Represent Render at conferences, meetups, hackathons, podcasts, and livestreams—delivering talks and live demos on building and running **AI agents** and full-stack apps. - Design and run hands-on workshops and hackathons (from curriculum to technical setup). - Set DevRel’s technical direction: choose communities/ecosystems/events to invest in and define what “great” looks like for talks, workshops, and demos. - Partner technically with ecosystem players (AI frameworks, agent tooling, open source): joint workshops, co-hosted events, and integrations worth building. - Go deep in technical communities (GitHub, X, Discord, Reddit, Hacker News): answer hard questions, debug real deployments, and show up where Render has credibility. - Run the developer feedback loop: turn field learnings into clear, prioritized input for Product/Engineering and follow through until it ships. - Support high-potential developers and startups with technical deep dives and architecture reviews—turning them into champions who share Render. - Raise the bar for the DevRel team through talk and demo reviews and your own work. - Track impact across activation from events/workshops, community engagement, partner-driven adoption, and product changes you influenced. --- ## What We’re Looking For - **8+ years** in developer relations, solutions engineering, or software engineering, including **at least 3 years** in a developer-facing role at a developer tools, cloud, or infrastructure company. - A strong track record on stage: talks at recognized developer conferences and workshops you designed and ran. - Experience setting direction for a DevRel program: choosing where to invest, measuring what worked, and adjusting course. - Hands-on fluency with **AI agents**: tool calling, MCP servers, LLM APIs, and agent frameworks. You can build a working agent app live and explain what it needs for production (e.g., long-run
