About this role

**Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)** ## Overview You’ll be the engineer customers trust to make **Firecrawl** work in the real world. When a high-value account hits a hard extraction problem, a messy integration, or a “can it even do this?” question, you show up, dig into their stack, and ship what unblocks them. This is a **customer-facing engineering** role measured in **adoption and expansion**, not tickets closed. You **build, deploy, and own the outcome**. ## Location & Type - **San Francisco, CA (SF HQ)** - **On-site:** 5 days/week - **Full-Time** ## Compensation - **Salary Range:** $209,000–$265,000 USD/year (OTE) - **Equity:** Competitive (details shared during the process) ## About Firecrawl Firecrawl turns the web into data AI agents can use. One API call converts any URL into clean, **LLM-ready markdown** or **structured data**. ## What You’ll Do - Land inside a customer’s environment, understand what they’re building, and make Firecrawl work for their real use case - Work hands-on with real customer data to build **integrations** and **POCs** that move from “not sure” to **production** - Run technical discovery: diagnose where extraction/pipelines break (usage vs. bug vs. product gap) - Partner with the Deployment team to turn technical wins into **adoption and expansion** - Be the trusted technical voice for accounts and bring field learnings back to product/engineering - Know when to solve it yourself vs. when to pull in engineering ## What We’re Looking For - Experience in **forward-deployed / solutions / customer-facing technical** roles (ideally in developer, API, or AI-infra products) - Technical depth to earn a developer’s respect: read code, use APIs, and build real POCs/integrations - Owned the full customer lifecycle: **demo → POC → production** - Strong judgment: distinguish user error from bugs from true product gaps - Ability to translate deep technical detail into business value - Fast execution and tight feedback loops (ship a working POC against real data) **Backgrounds that often do well:** - Solutions Engineers / SEs at API/devtools companies - Customer-facing engineers who owned end-to-end delivery - Technical account managers who built things - Ex-founders who sold and delivered their own product ## What We’re Not Looking For - A pure backend engineer who doesn’t want to be in front of customers - A quota-carrying seller who can’t build - Someone who needs a fully-built playbook before they can run ## Work Authorization Open to candidates already authorized to work in the US. - Supports: **H-1B transfers, F-1 OPT/STEM OPT, TN (Canada/Mexico), E-3 (Australia)** - **Not able to sponsor new H-1B visas** for candidates outside the US ## Benefits & Perks (Highlights) - **Generous PTO:** 15 days mandatory; anything after 24 days by request (holidays excluded) - **Parental leave:** 12 weeks fully paid - **Wellness stipend:** $100/month - **Learning & Development:** up to $1,000/year - **Sabbatical:** 3 paid months after 4 years - Health coverage varies by location (US-based full-time employees) ## Interview Process 1. **Application Review** 2. **Intro Chat (~25 min)** 3. **Technical & Customer Scenario Interview (~55 min)** 4. **Founder Chat (~25 min)** 5. **Paid Work Trial (~40 hours)** (real scoped customer scenario; paid at contractor rate) 6. **Decision** (fast after the trial) ## Apply 👉 **Apply now** *In your application, include your work and a quick note on why this excites you—especially a
