About this role
**ABOUT FINCH** Finch’s mission is to make justice radically more accessible to every American household. Since launching in April 2025, Finch has raised a **$20M Series A** (Sequoia, Redpoint, and DoorDash/Ironclad/Digits founders & CEOs) and is running pre-litigation for **125+** high-volume personal injury firms. --- **A NOTE FROM BEN (CTO)** Ben is hiring engineers who can: - Understand what needs to be built and why - Ship quality work fast - Own outcomes tied to measurable legal impact --- **WHAT YOU’LL DO** - **Own major features end-to-end**, from architecture decisions through production release - **Scale foundational software** for the legal team and build attorney-facing surfaces - Build **reliable, performant systems** across core workflows using **Python/Django, React, and AWS** - Ship **AI-powered functionality** that turns legal complexity into clear, usable software - Collaborate closely with **strategy & operations**, **product**, **growth**, and **legal** to define what gets built and why - Help shape **engineering culture, standards, and practices** as the team scales --- **WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL** You’ll likely thrive if you have: - **2+ years** building reliable, secure production software - **Strong product sense** (lead discovery and prioritize what to build and why) - A track record of **clean, testable, maintainable code**, with attention to **observability and performance** - Judgment to turn ambiguous problems into useful software and take responsibility for outcomes - A working style grounded in **urgency, ownership, and care** for users - Proficiency in **Python and React** (or demonstrated ability to pick up new stacks quickly) **It’s a plus if you have:** - Experience with **Django, AWS, or OpenAI APIs** - Experience at an **early-stage startup** establishing engineering standards - Familiarity with **document processing** or **data-heavy workflows** **This role may not be for you if:** - You prefer a roadmap/process/success metrics that are already fully defined - You want a narrow remit instead of meaningful ownership in a fast-moving team - You’re looking for a remote-first role (Finch works together in the **NYC office 4 days/week**) --- **WHAT HAPPENS NEXT** Finch’s process is designed to be human and efficient: 1. **Intro**: conversation about your background, motivation, and the role 2. **Technical interview**: practical, technical session 3. **Onsite**: visit to the NYC office to interview, meet the team, and have lunch
