By combining the speed of crypto with the reliability and trust of traditional finance, Fin reimagines how money moves worldwide. --- ## About the Role We’re looking for a **Senior Backend Engineer** to own the core systems that make this work. You’ll design and build services that move real money, integrate with payment partners and banks, and ensure the platform is secure, observable, and ready to scale to millions of transactions. You’ll work closely with the CEO, CTO, and a small senior team to make foundational architectural decisions and ship production systems quickly. This role is a great fit if you enjoy simplifying complex problems and care deeply about **reliability and correctness** in financial systems. *Our process focuses on practical system design and architectural discussions—not LeetCode grinding or unpaid take-home assignments.* --- ## What You’ll Do - Design, build, and maintain core backend services powering global payments and account experiences. - Own key systems end to end—from data models and APIs to deployment and ongoing operations. - Integrate with payment processors, on/off ramps, banks, and compliance & identity providers. - Monitor, tune, and scale backend services while maintaining high availability and strong performance. - Define and champion backend engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns. - Build internal tools and automation to improve developer productivity and system reliability. - Set and guide backend architecture direction with clear business impact and scalability in mind. - Review code, share knowledge, and help raise the bar across the engineering team. - Own cloud infrastructure setup and deployment workflows in partnership with the team. --- ## What You Need to Be Successful - Deep experience with **TypeScript** and **Node.js** (mostly TS; some Rust is a plus). - Strong experience designing and building scalable distributed backend systems. - Track record of owning critical backend infrastructure and making impactful architectural decisions. - Deep familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and infrastructure as code. - Experience building highly available systems with robust monitoring, logging, and alerting. - Ability to create clean, well-documented APIs and integrate complex external systems. - Comfort collaborating in a small, fast-moving team and mentoring others. - Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners. --- ## Bonus Points - Experience at early-stage startups where you owned large parts of the backend. - Hands-on experience with the stack (or similar): **Node.js/TypeScript, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Temporal** (https://temporal.io). - Experience leading technical strategy for a growing product or platform. - Payments/fintech/crypto experience—especially stablecoins or settlement systems.
