About this role
**Web Design Engineer** **About Care Access** Care Access is working to make the future of health better for all. With hundreds of research locations, mobile clinics, and clinicians across the globe, they bring world-class research and health services directly to communities that often face barriers to care. **How This Role Makes a Difference** As a **Web Design Engineer**, you’ll own how Care Access shows up on the web—designing and building landing pages, campaign sites, and brand experiences that turn interest into action. Some days you’ll be **80% dev / 20% design**; other days it’s the reverse. Some days you’ll also help keep multiple launches on track. --- **How You’ll Make an Impact** - **Design and build web experiences end to end** - Create conversion-focused landing pages and brand experiences from concept through production front-end code - Prototype in the browser and refine interaction details (states, transitions, loading/error behavior, motion) - **Own the look and feel of corporate and marketing websites** - Keep experiences coherent across initiatives and brands - Build with SEO in mind (technical SEO, metadata, structured data, site architecture) - Maintain existing work (redesigns, migrations, template debt, and keeping older campaign pages from rotting) - **Collaborate across disciplines and communicate the work** - Partner with design, marketing, engineering, and DevOps - Present and defend work with clear rationale in reviews - Share progress early and often with remote teams - **Scope, sequence, and quality-check the work** - Break down work, size it, and flag trade-offs early - Run design QA on implementations (including builds you didn’t author) to ensure what ships matches intent --- **The Expertise Required** - A portfolio of **shipped web work** (ideally with live URLs and the code behind them) - Strong **production front-end** skills: semantic HTML, modern CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and a framework like **React, Next, or Astro** - Real **design craft** (typography, layout, hierarchy, restraint) with enough Figma fluency to collaborate—and confidence to design in the browser when faster - **Brand sensibility**: extend an established identity to the web without breaking it - A feel for **conversion-oriented** web design and comfort letting data settle decisions - **CMS experience** (headless or traditional—e.g., Contentful, Sanity, Webflow) - Comfortable with **version control** and workflows (Git, branches, code review, CI) - Rigorous **cross-browser and real-device testing** - **Content sensibility**: comfort working with copy (and sometimes writing it), knowing when layout should bend to the words - Strong **written communication** (documentation, handoff notes, async updates) - Ability to **present remotely** and clearly convey decision-making - **Self-direction** in a shifting-priority environment - Enthusiasm for using **AI tools** to prototype and iterate faster - Highly collaborative across marketing, design, product, engineering, and DevOps - Grounding in **accessibility (WCAG, keyboard navigation, screen readers)** and **web performance** - Interest in building experiences that help people access **healthcare and research** **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience building/maintaining **component librar
