**Principal Consultant (Acquisition Solutions)** Appian Customer Success delivers exceptional customer outcomes and drives mission-critical business impact. As a Principal Consultant, you’ll lead at the intersection of enterprise business strategy and complex technical delivery—defining the client experience and how solutions are delivered. *This role is based at our HQ in McLean, VA. Employees hired for this position are expected to be in the office 4–5 days per week.* --- ## What You’ll Do - **Lead Enterprise Delivery:** Own the full project lifecycle to define, design, and implement custom automation solutions on the Appian platform for major commercial clients. - **Direct High-Performing Teams:** Lead and mentor consultants through fast-paced implementations, with a mindset of going **“beyond completion.”** - **Partner with Leadership:** Collaborate with Appian Architects and Technical Delivery Managers to design resilient, scalable, and secure system architectures. - **Architect Complex Integrations:** Build secure, high-throughput APIs connecting multiple enterprise environments using **REST, SOAP, and JDBC**. - **Data Infrastructures:** Oversee creation and production launch of advanced relational data models and sophisticated **SQL** database designs. - **Drive Client Self-Sufficiency:** Work with client executives and technical stakeholders to accelerate platform adoption and enable clients to build process applications independently. --- ## Basic Qualifications - **Degree:** BS or BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related technical field. - **Experience:** 8+ years of hands-on software development or technical implementation consulting. - **Team Leadership:** Experience leading technical teams and mentoring/developing engineering talent. - **Core Engineering:** Strong foundation in **OOP**, database design, data modeling, and **SQL** (queries, joins, views). - **Travel:** Willingness to travel up to **20%**. - **US Citizenship:** Required for Public Sector roles (U.S. Citizen). - **Additional:** Experience with enterprise acquisition or procurement solutions. --- ## Preferred Qualifications - Experience with modern cloud ecosystems, specifically **AWS**, **Google Cloud**, or **Elastic Containers**. - Deep technical knowledge of **AI**, **Machine Learning**, automated test suites (e.g., **Test-Driven Development**), and **continuous integration** frameworks. --- ## Tools and Resources - **Training & Development:** Department-specific onboarding, continuous learning, mentorship, and the **First-Friend** program. - **Growth Opportunities:** Leadership programs, Appian University training, skills-based training, and tuition reimbursement. - **Community:** Employee-led affinity groups and community involvement starting on day one. --- ## Benefits (Summary) Appian offers a comprehensive benefits package that may include health coverage, EAP (free mental health support), life and disability insurance, an Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), retirement/pension plans, wellness dollars, tuition reimbursement, and family-forming benefits.
