About this role
## Why Doppler 2026 has been a breakout year for Doppler. We’ve helped **78,000+ startups and enterprises** manage their secrets at scale and landed our first **million-dollar customer**. Developers often struggle with: - Manual management of **.env files** - Overly complex secrets managers that aren’t built for software development We’re an entrepreneurial team with a bias for action—open to unconventional approaches, focused on meaningful impact, and committed to security-first engineering. --- ## The Role: Senior Engineer, Core As a **Senior Engineer**, you’ll help build the next phase of scale for a platform trusted by **78,000+ teams**. You’ll use industry-leading techniques to improve reliability and performance—and help blaze the path for **reliable agentic patterns** at Doppler. We’re looking for an engineering-first mindset: strong technical fundamentals, deep engagement with AI, and the ability to build systems that are **correct, fast, and secure by default**. --- ## What You’ll Do - **Design, build, own, operate, and support** the services, APIs, and data systems at the center of Doppler’s product - Build the next phase of scale: **reliability, performance, and infrastructure** underneath the platform - Blaze the path for **reliable agentic patterns** (shared context, guardrails, and review practices that keep human judgment in the loop) - Lead by example in how you work with AI, helping engineers move faster without sacrificing security or quality - Own system design and influence the standards the rest of the team builds against - Collaborate across engineering to turn ambiguous product problems into systems we can operate confidently for years - Approach everything from a **security-first perspective** - Raise the bar through code review, design review, and mentorship --- ## What You’ll Bring to the Table - **5+ years** building and operating production software systems - Strong technical fundamentals and clear opinions on service/API design - Strong data experience: **schema design, query performance, migrations** against live traffic - Experience with **distributed systems**: failure modes, tradeoffs, and designing with discipline - Proven ability to run production systems at scale and make major changes without taking them down - Deep, daily fluency with **AI and agentic tooling** (knowing where it shines/fails and how to move faster safely) - Ability to separate what’s real from what’s hype in the AI industry - Sound human judgment: you can explain/defend your work without the tool, and know when not to use an agent - Pragmatic problem-solving: know when a robust solution is needed vs. when simplicity is best - Comfort jumping into ambiguous situations and being helpful anyway - Willingness to say **“I don’t know”**—and drive toward answers --- ## Preferred Experience - Security-first engineering mindset - Typed languages, especially **Go and/or TypeScript** - **Kubernetes**, infrastructure-as-code (Terrafo
