## About Etched Etched is building hardware for frontier intelligence. We co-design chips, racks, software, and manufacturing to deliver best-in-class throughput and latency across both prefill and decode workloads. Our first products are heavily focused on inference—backed by hundreds of millions from top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers. ## Job Summary - Co-develop cutting-edge software optimized across hardware and software to drive the full potential of very large AI models. - Solve challenging problems across the full stack—from low-level drivers and APIs to high-level applications and frameworks. - Contribute to the development of AI solutions that will revolutionize industries like natural language processing, chain-of-reasoning automation, and generative media. ## You may be a good fit if you have - Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience). - Experience in software development, including data structures/algorithms. - Experience developing and testing software on launching products. - Experience with firmware design, implementation, and troubleshooting. - Experience with embedded architectures and I/O technologies (e.g., I2C, SPI, PCIe, DRAM), plus concepts like scalability, fault tolerance, and consistency. ### Nice-to-have - Master’s degree in Computer Science (or related technical field). - Experience resolving customer-related issues. - Experience solving ambiguous problems. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ## Benefits - Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage - $500/month credit for waiving medical benefits - Wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more - Daily lunch + dinner in our office - Unlimited compute budget (subject to ROI justification) ## How we’re different Etched believes in the *Bitter Lesson* (http://www.incompleteideas.net/IncIdeas/BitterLesson.html). We’re the first inference-focused frontier AI system, with an addressable market spanning the entirety of inference. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research. We expect all technical staff to contribute to both and work across disciplines as needed. ## Location & Travel - Based in our Austin office, with regular time spent working alongside the team in San Jose. - During the first quarter: expect ~2 weeks/month in San Jose to ramp quickly. - After that: roughly ~1 week/month for ongoing collaboration.
