**Ready to do the most impactful work of your career?** Coinbase is hiring a **Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Coinbase One)** to join the Coinbase One team within the Consumer & Business group. Coinbase One is Coinbase’s subscription membership product, offering premium benefits that enhance the Coinbase experience for paying members. You’ll own the backend systems that power the membership lifecycle—from sign-up and payment processing to benefit delivery and targeted promotions—driving subscriber growth and retention for millions of customers. --- ## What you’ll do - Own the design, development, and operation of backend services powering the Coinbase One membership lifecycle (sign-up flows, subscription management, recurring payment processing). - Build scalable platform capabilities for targeted benefit delivery, promotional incentives, and personalized membership experiences across the Coinbase retail application. - Partner with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to scope, ship, and iterate on customer-facing membership features from concept through production. - Drive backend architecture decisions for the Coinbase One product area, establishing patterns for reliability, extensibility, and integration with broader Coinbase platform services. - Improve service reliability, observability, and performance across Coinbase One’s backend stack; proactively identify and resolve production issues. --- ## Required Skills & Experience - 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience shipping and operating production services at scale. - Experience building subscription, payments, or commerce systems (recurring billing, entitlements, promotional logic). - Proficiency in **Go** (or similar backend systems language such as Java, C++, or Rust) with the ability to adapt to a Go-centric codebase. - Ability to design and maintain APIs and distributed systems integrating across multiple product surfaces (web and mobile). - Track record of taking ambiguous projects from scoping through production with minimal oversight, collaborating cross-functionally with product and design. - Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality. --- ## Work model Coinbase is **remote-first, but not remote-only**.
