**Airbnb — Backend Engineer (Profile & Community)** ## About the team As a Backend Engineer on the Profile & Community team within Airbnb’s Passport & Commerce organization, you’ll help build the social layer of Airbnb: a trusted social graph of real-world connections, the social features built on top of it, and the foundations that let people connect with travelers they know and the people they meet along the way. You’ll work closely with design, product, data science, legal, and marketing partners, and collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver performant, configurable, scalable, and robust systems. ## A typical day - Collaborate with engineering teams across the stack (including Knowledge Graph, Search, Listings, Trips, and more) to build scalable, high-quality platforms. - Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define and deliver features that help guests and hosts set up accounts and profiles quickly and easily. - Build efficient, reusable backend components and architect reliable, performance, and scalable systems. - Evaluate and prototype new technologies to enable faster iteration across the tech stack. - Mentor and support engineers on your team and related teams. ## Your expertise - 3+ years of industry experience - Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in CS (or equivalent experience) - Experience building and scaling high-quality, high-traffic products/systems - Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design solutions to real-world problems - Ability to drive alignment, manage projects, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders ## Location - **US - Remote Eligible** - The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites (as agreed with your manager). - You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (excluded states apply). ## Pay range - **$162,000 — $186,000 USD** ## Inclusion & belonging Airbnb is committed to working with a broad talent pool and encourages all qualified individuals to apply. ## Reasonable accommodations If you need an accommodation to submit an application, contact **reasonableaccommodations@airbnb.com**. ## Note on recruiting scams Airbnb roles are posted on **careers.airbnb.com** and recruiters correspond only from **@airbnb.com** or **@ext.airbnb.com**.
