About this role

## About the Role Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together. We’re looking for a **Business Systems Engineer** to own the systems that turn a signed deal into a correct invoice and accurate revenue numbers. You’ll work across our **go-to-market and finance stack**—including **CRM, quoting/CPQ, billing, the data warehouse, and the integrations between them**. While **Salesforce** is an important part of the stack, it’s not the whole job. This is an **engineering role with business ownership**: you’ll design how data and money move between **Sales, Finance, Billing Ops, and Data teams**, build automation to keep everything in sync, and use AI to reduce manual work and surface timely signals to reps and operators. **Location:** San Francisco or New York City (in-office **Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays** — Anchor Days). ## What You’ll Achieve - **Create a reliable GTM and quote-to-cash foundation** across CRM, CPQ, billing, finance systems, marketing automation infrastructure, the data warehouse, and integrations. - **By day 90:** Build a clear understanding of critical data flows between GTM, finance, and the warehouse; ship an initial improvement to a high-value integration or workflow. - **By day 90:** Develop **AI-powered and agent-based workflows** that reduce manual work for reps, Deal Desk, and Billing Ops while improving signal quality. - **By end of first year:** Automate billing-critical workflows such as **upgrades and prorated refunds, early renewals, true-ups, and credit deferment**, with audit trails Finance can trust. - **By end of first year:** Improve data integrity and reporting via clear data models, deduplication, validation rules, reconciliation, and monitoring—supporting accurate **ARR, pipeline, dashboards, and forecasting**. - **Raise the bar for how the team ships:** access controls, change management, release practices, thoughtful documentation, reusable tests/runbooks, code review, and AI-assisted development. ## Skills You’ll Need to Bring - Experience in **business systems engineering / GTM engineering / revenue operations** (or technical sales/marketing ops), with the ability to own problems end to end and work cross-functionally. - **Strong SQL** and experience with a data warehouse such as **Snowflake or BigQuery**; design for clean, traceable data and protect data integrity. - Experience building **integrations** (APIs, webhooks, event-driven services, reverse ETL, or automation platforms like **Zapier, Workato, Tray.io**). **Python or JavaScript scripting** and/or serverless integrations are a plus. - Familiarity with **quote-to-cash, billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition**; ability to work effectively with Finance and Billing Ops. **NetSuite (ERP)** is a plus. - Hands-on **Salesforce development** experience (Apex, triggers, Lightning Web Components, Salesforce automation) following team development/release practices (source control, PRs, code review, automated testing, deployment pipeline) — a plus. - Hands-on experience with **Salesforce CPQ, Revenue Cloud, or similar CPQ tools** (product/pricing data models, price books, bundles, approval rules) — a plus. - Genuine curiosity about **AI**, applying it to day-to-day work via AI-assisted development, agents, or workflow automation. Salesforce administration/customization is a plus. ## Compensation Notion offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. For roles based in **San Francisco and NYC*
