Join Coupang to help build the future of commerce through always-on, high-tech, hyper-connected experiences. --- **Role Overview** As a Staff Software Engineer, ML Infra Engineer for the Search & Discovery organization, you will design and implement durable, efficient software solutions that handle massive volumes of structured and unstructured data to train complex ML models and serve them online. The Search & Discovery organization optimizes navigation experience and drives long-term growth. Millions of customers use search weekly, and a significant portion of Coupang sales are attributed to search and recommendation. --- **What You Will Do** - Proactively drive end-to-end data platform execution and the data quality roadmap for Search & Discovery ML efforts - Own, consolidate, and optimize core Search & Discovery data logging, processing, and ML model training pipelines - Develop and scale data infrastructure for batch and real-time processing, monitoring, and debugging for ML experiments - Drive design and implementation of scalable ML-based ranking systems and online ML inference services - Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Data Scientists, Analysts, Product Managers, Indexing Platform Engineers, Ranking Engineers, and Data Platform Engineers to deliver both offline and online needs - Research, analyze, and select technical approaches for challenging development/integration problems; coach and mentor engineers on processes and methodologies --- **Basic Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field - 5+ years of professional experience in applied machine learning - Experience with machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling - Proficiency in Python and/or Java, with experience building production-grade ML systems --- **Preferred Qualifications** - Strong CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, performance complexity, and architecture implications like I/O and memory tuning) - Experience with Big Data tools and ETL frameworks (Hadoop, Hive, Presto, Spark, Scala, Apache Airflow, etc.) - Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch - Experience deploying robust, scalable data pipelines processing petabytes of data - Experience managing mission-critical services with high throughput and low latency - Experience integrating applications/platforms with cloud technologies (AWS and GCP) - Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical users - Experience with ML platforms for search & discovery rankings is a plus --- **Pay & Benefits** - Base pay range: **$174,000/year to $299,000/year** (varies by market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience) - Benefits include: Medical/Dental/Vision/Life & AD&D insurance; FSA/HSA; disability coverage; EAP; 401(k) with company match; PTO (18–21 days/year based on tenure); 12 public holidays; paid parental leave; pre-tax commuter benefits; free electric car charging station - “Other Compensation” may include bonuses, equity, or other forms of compensation in addition to the base salary range --- **Recruitment Process & Others** - Application Review → Phone Interview → Onsite (or Virtual Onsite) Interview → Offe
