You’ll lead teams that are inclusive, helpful, and take strong ownership of what they build—driving technical direction and delivering impact. ## Team: Infrastructure — Developer Environments The Infrastructure teams build the foundational systems engineers rely on to create stable, scalable, and efficient services. In this role, you’ll lead the **Developer Environments** team, responsible for critical infrastructure that improves developer productivity and system reliability. The team builds and supports: - Environments where developers work and test - Simulation systems and tools - Systems that support the SDLC - Reliability and efficiency for production services during peak events (e.g., New Year’s Eve) ## Projects (examples) - [Extending our Envoy mesh with staging overrides](https://eng.lyft.com/scaling-productivity-on-microservices-at-lyft-part-3-extending-our-envoy-mesh-with-staging-fdaafafca82f) - [Gating Deploys with Automated Acceptance Tests](https://eng.lyft.com/scaling-productivity-on-microservices-at-lyft-part-4-gating-deploys-with-automated-acceptance-4417e0ebc274) - [How Lyft uses load testing to ensure reliable service during peak events](https://eng.lyft.com/simulatedrides-how-lyft-uses-load-testing-to-ensure-reliable-service-during-peak-events-644dcb654454) ## Responsibilities - Lead Infrastructure Engineering teams responsible for maintaining and improving infrastructure - Balance feature development speed with reliability and service-level objectives - Mentor and guide professional/technical development; help shape careers and project assignments - Build collaborative, inclusive, respectful teams - Provide continuous feedback; support performance improvement and recognize strengths and contributions - Create plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges - Maintain a balance between sustainable, high-impact work and shipping quickly - Instill continuous improvement in code, architecture, and processes - Partner with Recruiting to hire high-potential candidates from diverse backgrounds - Work with engineers and stakeholders to maintain a prioritized backlog and set short- and long-term goals - Own team deliverables and ensure we ship scalable, highly-available products that delight passengers and drivers ## Experience - 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager (Infrastructure team experience is a bonus) - Technical background to contribute to planning and design discussions - Proficiency in one or more high-level languages (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, JavaScript) - Experience maintaining/operating production software and infrastructure at large scale - Customer focus (drivers, passengers, and/or Lyft employees) - Experience leading engineers through career development - Experience building teams/products that scale with evolving company needs - Collaborative mindset and commitment to driving projects to completion - Strong ownership culture - Experience supporting planning, prioritization, and execution ## Benefits (highlights) - Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options (plus additional programs) - Mental health benefits - Family building benefits - Child care and pet benefits - 401(k) plan with company match - Paid time of
