If you’re passionate about applying robotics solutions to a service loved by millions, we want to talk to you! **You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…** - **Build Geospatial Data Pipelines:** Ingest and process data like terrain, sensor logs, point clouds, and building footprints. - **Analyze Complex 3D Environments:** Develop spatial algorithms to classify terrain and detect obstacles, ensuring safe and reliable navigation for autonomous delivery systems. - **Scale Data Infrastructure:** Design and scale high-performance spatial data storage and retrieval systems to handle growing throughput demands of an expanding fleet. - **Serve and Visualize Map Data:** Build high-performance map services (Vector Tiles, APIs) to render complex 3D environments and fleet positions in web-based mission control dashboards. **We’re excited about you because you have…** - **B.S., M.S., or PhD** in Computer Science (or equivalent) - **6+ years** of industry experience as a geospatial engineer - Experience with **scientific Python** and **geospatial data science** - Knowledge of **Coordinate Reference Systems (CRS)** and associated transformations - **Spatial database proficiency:** Expert-level skills with **PostGIS** (or equivalent) for managing complex geometries and spatial relationships - **Algorithmic mindset:** Comfortable writing logic to solve geometric problems (e.g., whether a 3D trajectory intersects with a static obstacle) **Nice to Have** Experience with these technologies is not required but helpful: - Experience with **Kotlin, Java, and/or Go** - Experience with **distributed computing** (e.g., Spark) - **3D point cloud expertise** using tools like **PDAL, PCL**, or Python (Open3D/NumPy) to process and analyze raw LiDAR data **Compensation & Benefits** - The **national base pay range** in the United States (including Illinois and Colorado) is **$193,800–$285,000 USD** (base salary is localized by work location). - In addition to base salary, the role includes opportunities for **equity grants**. - DoorDash offers a comprehensive benefits package including **medical, dental, and vision**, **401(k) with employer matching**, **16 weeks paid parental leave**, **wellness and commuter benefits**, **paid time off and paid sick leave**, **11 paid holidays**, **disability and basic life insurance**, **family-forming assistance**, and a **mental health program**. **About DoorDash** At DoorDash, our mission to empower local economies shapes how we move quickly, learn, and iterate to make impactful decisions with empathy for our users—from Dashers to merchant partners to consumers.
