Built from roots in hair salons, the platform supports a broader self-care industry including salons, spas, medspas, barbershops, and more. **Role overview** Boulevard is looking for a product-minded Senior Software Engineer to build experiences and systems that power appointment-based businesses and the professionals and clients who rely on them every day. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to solve meaningful customer problems, owning technical solutions from design through production. **What you’ll do** - Own meaningful product and technical initiatives from design and scoping through implementation, launch, and iteration. - Build reliable, maintainable systems powering experiences such as real-time scheduling, client booking, marketing automation, and tools professionals use to run their businesses. - Partner closely with Product and Design to understand customer problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and develop thoughtful technical solutions. - Contribute to technical design and architecture while balancing scalability, maintainability, performance, and delivery speed. - Build across the platform based on your expertise (frontend, backend, or end-to-end). - Own the quality of what you ship through testing, code review, observability, and ongoing production support. - Collaborate with and mentor other engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing. - Continuously improve how we build and ship software, including thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools. **What you’ll need to thrive** - **Experience:** 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production applications. - **Technical fundamentals:** Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to design clean, maintainable solutions to complex problems. - **Ownership:** Track record of independently taking meaningful features/initiatives from definition through production. - **Product mindset:** Experience partnering with Product and Design to turn customer needs into effective technical solutions. - **Systems thinking:** Solve the class of problem, not just the immediate instance. - **Technical judgment:** Evaluate tradeoffs, make sound decisions, and communicate reasoning. - **Collaboration:** Work effectively with engineers and cross-functional partners; contribute to others’ growth. - **Curiosity:** Eagerness to learn unfamiliar technologies (prior Elixir experience not required). **Tech stack** - **Backend:** Elixir + PostgreSQL on AWS; event-driven architecture using EventBridge, SQS, and Oban. - **API:** GraphQL (TypeScript types generated from the schema across frontends). - **Frontend:** React + TypeScript for business dashboard, client booking experience, and micro-frontends; shared component library. Mobile for professionals built with React Native. - **Tooling:** Terraform (IaC), continuous deployment, Datadog (observability), Snowflake (analytics), and AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code). **Compensation & benefits (highlights)** - **Base salary range (anticipated):** - NYC, SF Bay Area, Seattle: **$184,000–$230,000/year** - Other U.S. locations: **$163,600–$204,500/year** - May be eligible for a variable compensation program; final compensation va
